What caused the decline of the RTS genre?
The RTS genre was very popular back in the day with games like C&C, Red Alert, Dune, Warcraft, Steel soldiers and many more. But over time these games fizzled out alongside the genre. I think the last big RTS game franchises were Starcraft and Halo Wars, but those seem to be done and gone now. There are some fun alternatives, but all very niche and obscure. I've heard people say the genre died out with the rise of the console, but I believe PC gaming is once again very popular these days. Yet RTS games are not. Is it a genre that younger generations don't like? Is it because it's hard to make money with the genre? Or something else completely? What do you think?
👍 Pros: The overall gameplay is fun and really challenging in the middle-late game stage with its difficulty. And also the art style was pretty cute and charming, well suited for casual lay back gaming.
👎 Cons: But really, I just have one issue with the game's rank match difficulty multiplier where mine's just keep stuck at around 50x times where I've already done a match with much higher difficulty multiplier than that. Does anyone else experiencing the same thing?
