T3 Arena Guide #5: Chapter 3 Personal Development - Positioning
Positioning is about where you stand and why. Good positioning helps you survive longer, create better opportunities, and get more value throughout a match. Even the best mechanics can't make up for poor positioning.
Spacing
Maintain the right distance between yourself, your teammates, and your enemies. Good spacing gives you room to react and reduces unnecessary risk.
Cover
Cover is your greatest form of protection. Move from cover to cover and avoid exposing yourself longer than necessary.
The Arm's Reach Rule
If you're more than about two seconds away from cover, you're overextended.
High Ground
High ground provides better vision, stronger angles, and a safer position. Whenever possible, make it work in your favor.
Sightlines
Fight from positions that let you see the enemy while limiting how many enemies can see you.
Objective Positioning
Position yourself based on the objective. Sometimes that means holding the point, and sometimes it means controlling the space around it.
Rotation
As the fight changes, so should your position. Rotate early to stronger positions instead of reacting too late.
Role Positioning
Every role positions differently.
- Damage applies pressure from favorable angles.
- Tank creates and controls space.
- Support stays safe while enabling the team.
