Essential JRPG That Cannot Be Missed

• Another Eden: The Cat Beyond Time and Space ⎮ @DavyJones
●A classic JRPG with no time-limited content, a single-player game you can play at your own pace.
●A great story that makes us immerse into a fantastic world, feel like watching a Japanese anime.
●A huge volume of game content with numerous side quests.
●The OSTs are insanely good, which can be released in the form of an album alone.
●I didn’t find any notable drawbacks.
I'm an old-fashioned man. I'm not ashamed of it. That's why I love JRPG and Another Eden. I just can't forget these genius RPGs I played on the Game boy, NDS and PS. I can't get used to the mobile game choke-full of the energy system with the story unpolished by a screenwriter. What makes Another Eden different from the others is that they're the only few who seriously develop a decent JRPG. Another Eden is underrated, I'm gonna give it 9.5.
What makes Another Eden a real JRPG? First, No time-limited content, Another Eden is a single-player game without social interactions and log-in bonuses, which means you can play at your own pace. The Game contains a huge volume of content and a large number of side quests. And most crucial, a good story was written by Masato Kato who also penned the script of Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy XI and VII. I've been playing the VII remake recently again (Waifu Jessie is so lovely), I suddenly realized that It's still the story that makes VII so good.
Another good side of Another Eden is the way they tell the story. Honestly, it shouldn't be an advantage for a JRPG, but there are plenty of pretended mobile RPG games that are so terrible on this part - they don't know how to set up a scene where the story is happening and how to use the reactions of the characters like surprise or rage. Picture how the normal mobile RPG games would do that, A dialog box with endless text. ANOTHER EDEN has your character going to some places you truly can see it and absorbing the character's mood from their expression and moves.
And the game OSTs are insanely good as the Japanese developers always do. About the shortcomings, I didn’t find any notable drawbacks in the game.
Basically, Another Eden is an old-school JPG developer who made it earnestly. I know, times have changed, and some gamers would never agree with me. But if you have the same feeling about Another Eden, friend, you must have good taste.

• Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent ⎮ @WittyChico
This kind of JRPG is iconic, and only belongs to Square Enix.
This fantasy world uses independent plots and melodious music to illustrate truth and hypocrisy. Travelers from all corners of the continent have come to bring a symbol of hope to a continent shrouded in darkness.
This game, or the whole Octopath Traveler series is slow-paced. The plot that cannot be skipped, but the plot interpretation that just feels right, a dark tinge with a hint of light.
I have to say that its art style is awesome. Square Enix's style is unique symbolic, plus pixelated and Live2D. To me, this isn't Japanese animation with delicate bishojo, it's more like art work of religion, empire, and humanity in Japanese anime style.
There's a certain innovation in the turn-based battle where you can switch people at any time and use effective attacks to break the enemy.
Played by piano, violin, and other instruments, the background music is very melodic and healing. You can easily feel whether things are getting worse or weird by different arrangements of BGM.
The story of the game is a little too negative and dark. Whether it's the main story or the side story, many characters don't have a happy ending, which makes me quite sad. (no spoilers)

• RPG Sword of Elpisia ⎮ @WittyChico
KEMCO is a famous Japanese JRPG and Sword of Elpisia is an RPG game featuring cute graphics.
Character art is a big feature. Sprites moving at 8 angles are a mechanism not seen in regular JRPs. In addition, the battle scene animation that reflects the weapon equipped by the character and the weapon equipped by the character to satisfy the attacking enemy is an attractive point that makes the game more immersive. However, some textures and UI in the game have an old-fashioned feel that does not match the existing game.
Meanwhile, Elphisia's sword's combat system is simple and intuitive, with a few elements that add unexpected fun to combat. First of all, you can use various spells that require MP and skills that use APs that allow you to sacrifice turns for charging. All of this is simple enough, but throwing in some really adorable summonable pets that attack enemies and give them a boost reveals a fun formula.
The game takes place in the fantasy world of Terra, a world where magic has always been part of the way of life, but something has gone wrong. One by one, people turn into magic swords and . To solve this mystery and problem, you will explore the world of Terra. Terra's world is divided into 3 factions: Independent Territories, Prometheus Dominion and Nereid Dominion. Each faction has its own lord, culture, and storyline of adventures with new teammates.
In particular, it is a game that reinterprets the classic JRPG turn-based style enjoyed in the 90's, and you can feel the classic JRPG sensibility of the 90's. Kemco continues to strengthen the tradition with a fun combat system, character design and backstory, and epic music, and rich storytelling is also a plus for the game.
Especially if you're a user who still remembers past games like JRPGs or Wild Arms or Suikoden, this game will evoke a classic JRPG feel. This is because they are similar but have their own unique methods, and they are games that you want to pick up and play again later even after they are finished. If you like a good turn-based RPG set in a fantasy world, with a mysterious storyline, fun dialogue between the characters, and a combat system that offers a variety of tactics to fight lots of monsters and bosses using full weapons, weapons and abilities , and above all else. If you have a PET that you can contract and help get the job done, then Swords of Elpisia is the game for you.
In addition to the mobile version, it was also released as a console version, so we recommend finding a device that suits you and playing the game.

• Langrisser ⎮ @Freyu
Never played any of the Langrisser titles, which made its debut in the 90s, but I knew this game is going to be great when I started it because its opening soundtrack is just glamorous.
Although the story of the good and the evil is kinda cliche, Langrisser still attracts me with its lovable characters with distinct personalities and well-written dialogues. It’s also good to see that the game decides to go with the 90s art style. Nostalgia.
The combat in Langrisser is turn-based. And good news, it’s not auto. Players should pay attention to heroes’ class priority (e.g., Infantry is stronger than lancer, but weak to cavalry) and the terrain effects. Players can also change their soldiers’ class.
It’s worth mentioning the class tree. Each class can be advanced to different stages. For example, Acolyte can be upgraded to Bishop (further, Oracle), Saint (further, Martyr), Priest.
The game has multiple modes, like the story mode, PvP Arena and a Time Rift. The Time Rift mode pays tribute to the past Langrisser games. I think this is a thoughtful design for both newcomers and veterans.

• FINAL FANTASY Record Keeper ⎮ @SubZero
Final Fantasy: Record Keeper is a collaboration between DeNA and the folks at Square Enix. It's amazing that I can form my team from all the final fantasy series. I also love that the devs took a 16 bit traditional turn based approach.
Record Keeper features tons of weapons, armor, enemies and allies. Enemies within each realm retain their unique behaviors and abilities. It was fun mixing and matching characters from old and new Final Fantasies to see how their abilities meshed.
In terms of the underlying mechanicsis, the game is squarely a freemium title. What I liked about it most is FFRK gives us the option to use mythril to do relic draws. Many games do not as generous as FFRK in my opinion. I could get 2 per week from login plus 1 from bonus login. Every dungeon gives a mythril on normal and elite. There is an option for this game to be completely f2p or spend some money.
Pros
+ Forgettable memories of FF series
+ Nostalgic turn-based combat and customization
+ The music comes straight from the original games are just as iconic and excellent as ever
+ A free-to-play game
Cons
- Most of the combat is a complete snooze
- Stamina replenishes relatively slowly
- Loading time more than play time
I can really enjoy it without knowledge of any of the FF games, which makes Final Fantasy: Record Keeper stand out.
But the more FFs you've played, you'll definitely feel a greater affinity with the game because everything is familiar and memorable.
