The League of Legends Fighting Game is Free-to-play

Riot recently shared some updates on the untitled League of Legends spin-off (known as 'Project L'). The team confirmed that this 2D fighting game will be free-to-play, and the monetization is respectful of "both your time and your wallet."

Ahri, Katarina, Jinx, Darius, and Ekko will show up in Project L, with Illaoi as the latest champion to be introduced in the game. The team also published a blog post on creating Illaoi. You can read it here.
