Poor chest drops, Laggy and P2W

At first the game is interesting. I was easily able to learn the basics of the game but after playing for some time I realised that the drops from chest are only of useless characters that are not very optimised for battle. And now I am stuck cannot progress any further. I have upgraded skills, ability, equipment but to no avail. The progress is too slow to waste time on. It feels like I need to pay to proceed further
