#MostVisuallyStunningGame-Punishing:Gary Raven
As we all known, very few games nowadays can catch your attention and keep it there with a vice-like grip, especially when there are just too many titles on mobile vying for it. And gacha games have improved significantly over the years in terms of quality.
With its stunning visuals and engaging storyline,Punishing: Gray Raven
unapologetically demands your attention. The in-game systems carry a
significant familiarity to them if you’re an avid mobile player, but a few features make it extremely tough to put down.
STORYLINE
It presents the Earth in ruins and mankind close to extinction, the rich lore of this post-apocalyptic world is too deep to explain in just a few sentences but suffice it to say that it’s a cyberpunk journey through a lost Earth.
You follow the story of the Gray Raven team, led by Lucia, a battle-hardened cyborg with her own clouded past that she’ll slowly uncover over the course of her missions.Punishing:Gray Raven does an excellent job of developing the story around the main squad of Lucia, Lee, and Liv.
Side stories of each character further detail how the war has impacted them and shaped who they are. Dystopian cyberpunk themes have been done before, but the way Punishing:Gray Raven presents its world can get you fully invested thanks to its great writing and character interactions.
Missions and combat
The ARPG systems offer basic attacks, a dodge, and different colored-coded abilities that depend on the unit class, which can be switched in battle.
During a fight, you’ll notice abilities appear on the screen at random. When two of the same color-coded abilities are next to each other, it’ll increase its power. At the same time, three or more increases the attack further and activates a QTE to bring in a teammate of that color code to fight with you for a brief moment. The abilities a distinct level of interaction and strategy to the fights that makes them engaging.
When you Dodge incoming enemy fire at just the right time, you’ll enter a Matrix-like bullet time that gives you the upper hand over your enemies. Dodges are limited, however, so you can’t just zip around like mad unless you want to run out of Dodges when it matters the most - I can’t tell you how many times I’ve needed to Dodge only to find I’ve run out of juice and then I immediately perish in battle, as expected.
Not-so-typical of the genre is the fact that the gacha pulls don’t seem as important, instead it depends on whether you can play these characters skillfully and upgrade them properly.
Equilibrium and pay-to-win issues
While the energy issues definitely were a problem for people playing a normal amount per day,the pricing and rewards controversy doesn’t stick, because it's a free-to-play game. The game gives you an overpowered character from the start, most players pick the S-Rank Kamui, who’s considered the most powerful as he can blow throw quite a lot of the campaign thanks to his mixture of high damage and tankiness,so there was never a reason to argue pay-to-win issues.
I understand that their monthly pack was slightly off what it normally is in other regions, but you don’t need to buy it.Punishing:Gary Raven gives you plenty of opportunities to earn the right materials to level up your characters, weapons, and memory equips.
Soundtrack and control sense
To be honest,BGM is a bit monotonous and create a tense and anxious atmosphere (perhaps to meet the plot and create a sense of immersion for players),but the basic action, like strike, defense etc. and skill release sound effects in combat is awesome.Especially the rhythm of the combo of three buttons, your finger sometimes can't stop clicking with the "do re mi".
I like its tactility the most(I mean the sense of your hands feel when you're playing) cause Punishing:Gary Raven brings me a real and strong feeling of the feedback from the screen(sry,I discribe badly and I just wanna say that it's not the same as other games which has FAKE feedbacks).
Overall,Punishing:Gray Raven joins the pantheon of high-quality gacha greats where only so few reside(Genshin Impact). Following a rocky launch, this game offers intense action gameplay, deep customization, great characters, and highly detailed designs wrapped in a decent free-to-play model.Unfortunately, because the stories are what drive me forward, I can’t foresee how I’ll still be motivated to play this game when the arcs are done and the last chapter closes.
Anyway, just waiting,I believe that KURO GAME doesn't make us hope-lost.
