League of Legends's upcoming champion is K'Sante, The Pride of Nazumah
League of Legends’s next releasing champion is K’Sante, The Pride of Nazumah. Initially teased through a couple of cinematic trailers some time ago, the champion will officially arrive with League of Legends Patch 12.21 on November 3, 2022. K’Sante will mark himself as the game’s 162nd champion, as well as the first openly male, LGBTQ-identifying character of color to debut in League of Legends.
Hailing from the sandy dunes and mountains of Shurima, K’Sante lives in the city-state of Nazumah. Nazumah is a coveted oasis sitting at the lush southern edges of the Shuriman continent. But because of Nazumah’s location, it makes the city vulnerable to attacks from desert monsters.
K’Sante, a mere boy with no special powers or magic, dreamt of being a mighty Nazuman warrior and monster hunter for most of his life. From daytime to nightfall, K’Sante trained and slowly hunted more and more monsters across Shurima, all to become strong enough to protect Nazumah from any threats.
One day, his efforts paid off, and K’Sante took down one of Nazumah’s most feared and ferocious predators, the lion-cobra baccai, a beast with the shape of a lion and the hardened scales and tail of a cobra. This victory earned K’Sante the title: The Pride of Nazumah, as well as his tonfas crafted from the hide of the beast he slayed.
In League of Legends, K’Sante is a top-laning tank champion that can easily defend his teammates and crowd-control enemies with slowing abilities, as well as dish out massive blows of damage to any player in a matter of seconds.
K’Sante excels at starting the teamfight, disrupting enemies, and then pulling a singular target away from the safety of their team and eliminating them quickly.
K’Sante is equipped with abilities that boost his defense, as well as an ultimate skill that sheds it all away in return for greater attack damage. This essentially makes K’Sante an absolute bruiser but also weakens him in his offensive stance.
K’Sante has five abilities, including his passive. The champion’s passive ability, Dauntless Instinct, allows K’Sante to mark enemies when hitting them. Upon hitting the enemy again, K’Sante will consume the mark and deal extra damage. This passive pairs pretty well with the champion’s Q ability, Ntofo Strikes, which allows K’Sante to slam his weapons in a small area on the ground, briefly slowing enemies hit. If K’Sante casts Ntofo Strikes quickly again, it’ll unleash a shockwave that pulls enemies toward him.
To defend against attacks, K’Sante can use his W ability, Path Maker. This skill allows K’Sante to raise his weapons defensively for a short duration, becoming unstoppable and reducing incoming damage. After this short duration, K’Sante rams forward, knocking back and stunning enemies while dealing damage simultaneously. Although this might be helpful to gain some distance, it’s best to pair Path Maker with K’Sante’s E ability, Footwork. Footwork allows K’Sante to dash a short range over areas, including walls, to make for an easy escape.
Lastly, K’Sante’s ultimate ability, All Out, shatters his heavy tonfas and unleashes the blades hidden beneath, knocking back and damaging enemies in the process. Enemies knocked back against a wall will be flung over it and briefly stunned. Following this, K’Sante changes his defensive stance across abilities and stats to offensive and gains massive attack damage power. In exchange for this power, K’Sante loses most of his defense, putting him at risk of losing his health and dying much more quickly.
From what it seems, K'Sante might be an alternative Sett or Poppy pick across matchmaking. The champion has a pretty balanced ability kit, especially for a top-laning character. It's hard to say for sure if K'Sante will be overpowered upon release like most champions, but only time will tell. K'Sante debuts across League of Legends's live servers on November 3, 2022. Until then, feel free to read K'Sante's biography and newly-released story.
