Pokémon Scarlet and Violet is debuting soon and I'm so excited to catch these adorable Pokémon
Pokémon Scarlet And Violet is coming out on November 18, 2022, and I’ve been patiently and eagerly waiting for the game to release ever since it was announced. I’ve always been a massive Pokémon fan. One of the first games I ever played was Pokémon; in fact, it was a cracked Pokémon Gold and Silver ROM that I used to play on my brother’s laptop through a Game Boy emulator. Ever since then, I’ve played almost every title released by Game Freak, except some of the newer games like Pokémon Legends: Arceus or Pokémon Sword and Shield.
See, I’m particularly excited about playing Pokémon Scarlet and Violet because it’ll be my first experience diving into a Pokémon game that doesn’t fashion the 2D pixel art style I’ve grown used to throughout my life. In addition, it’ll also be ten years since the last time I played a Pokémon game, which is pretty crazy to believe.
That said, Game Freak and The Pokémon Company have been teasing some features from Pokémon Scarlet and Violet for the past couple of months and most recently showcased one of their newest, adorable Pokémon from the region of Paldea called Greavard.
Don’t be fooled by Greavard’s adorable, fluffy appearance, though. Despite Greavard being an affectionate and loving doggo, the Pokémon slowly absorbs the life force of those around it, making it possibly the most adorable but deadly pet anyone could have. Would I still give Greavard aggressive pats? In an instant and without hesitation.
Besides Greavard, Game Freak has also showcased the new starter Pokémon, as well as some other additions coming with Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. The game’s newest grass-type starter is Sprigatito. Although Sprigatito seems plain and possibly Pokémon Scarlet and Violet’s most boring starter among the three, it’s still an adorable feline. I mean, who can say no to cats?
Quaxly is the newest water-type starter, and as one would assume by the name, the Pokémon is a duck. By far, one of the most wide-eyed, cute ducks I’ve ever seen. Quaxly has strong legs, hates getting its head dirty, and is always covered in gel secreted by its feathers. The Pokémon also seems to be fixated on styling its feathers most of the time.
On the other hand, Fuecoco is the newest fire-type starter. Fuecoco has to be the cutest, most adorable Pokémon in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet by far. Fuecoco is a crocodile that also looks like a chili pepper. I mean, come on, look at Fuecoco; isn’t it the most googly-eyed, adorable thing in the world? The Pokémon has square scales that absorb heat and convert it into fire energy, but beyond that, Fuecoco seems like it wants to be picked up and thrown up into the air and then hugged repeatedly.
Another Pokémon that’s not a starter but did catch my attention was Wiglett. No, Wiglett is not a white-colored Diglett. Although the Pokémon definitely resembles some similarities with Diglett, it’s supposedly unrelated and is not a special evolution form. Wiglett is its own Pokémon and, surprisingly, a simple, white worm with a keen sense of smell and the ability to wriggle through the earth and pop up its head above when it chooses.
There’s no denying that practically almost all the Pokémon teased over the past few months have been absolutely adorable. There’s so much more to see, too. There’s a little chonky piggy called Lechonk and an olive-inspired Pokémon that seems pretty anxious and sad called Smoliv. And I can’t forget to mention there’s even another little squirrel-mouse hybrid Pokémon called Pawmi.
That said, these cute Pokémon have gotten me even more thrilled and eager to play Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. I can’t wait to spend hours on end relishing the game while catching ‘em all and having tons of fun in the process. It’ll be an exciting experience returning and playing another Pokémon game, especially after such a long time. I'm totally hyped and ready, but are you? Pokémon Scarlet and Violet will officially launch on November 18, 2022.
