Everything wrong with Predecessor

Predecessor is a strategy third-person MOBA.
If you're familiar with games of this genre like League of Legends or DOTA 2, then you already understand the general basics of farming, fighting objective play while playing as a team to secure victory.
The game is in essence the predecessor to Paragon, a game previously shut down to make room for Fortnite on the Epic Games platform.
The game tries to be fast-paced action that combines the idea of a standard MOBA with third-person strategy visuals, putting you in the shoes of your hero, rather than in a birds eye view that so many of us are familiar with.
Unfortunately there are many flaws with this idea, both visually and physically.
What are some of the problems?
The game runs off of Easy Anti-Cheat
EAC is one of the worst, but cheapest anti-cheat software and doesn't actually do much in most cases besides cause instabilities. It rarely stops people from cheating, it's very easy to get around and thus you're more or less likely to start running into rampant cheaters early on in the game's development.
The instabilities for some users may consist of constant crashing or the inability to load up the game at all due to conflicting software on your PC.
Every game consists of multiple AFK players
This is normal in most games, the reason for this is plain and simple, most people trying to play this game are from places that are not supported currently through their servers, forcing them to abandon their allies to a 4v5 or 3v5.
There are no ASIA or OCE servers so please beware!
If you were hoping to play this game and you live in Australia, Hong Kong or any of the really foreign countries you're pretty much out of luck getting in game.
You'll be stuck playing at 800-1000 ping due to the game not having servers currently to support these players, which surprisingly is a lot of them.
The HUD and UI are both very irritating to look at and to navigate
If a game is going to present itself as a fast paced action game, players should not be spending precious time visually confused or blocked from information.
If you want to level up one of your abilities while you are killing targets in the laning phase then you better do it somewhere safe, because the tiny mini-map in the top right corner will be fully obscured while you try to read each ability.
In other games of this genre all you have to do is hover your mouse over a skill to get the information directly where your mouse is, leaving all the important features like maps, and your field of vision unobstructed.
However, because this game is controlled by your mouse you can't, so this feature is not something the player can do. They don't even have any settings to move these things around your screen for personal preferences.
The scoreboard and the shop both fall under this issue as well, covering the entirety of the players screen and blurring out the background making it impossible to see anything nearby or anything around the map until exited.
How does the game look?
It looks great
I feel that the most striking thing about this game is the graphics. It has more realism fantasy to it than the common cartoony or rustic style most go for.
The game also runs smoothly at the highest settings that your system can handle. I did not run into any issues graphically during my time in the game.
There were a few instances where a character's leg or clothes were clipping through their body, but these types of issues are rather minor.
How do the heroes feel?
Generic & done before
I've spent my fair share of time in MOBAs so I have a good understanding about having characters that feel unique and also when a hero or champion feels like a pieced together copy of another character in the same genre.
Example: Howitzer
This hero feels like he was put together to imitate and mimic other heroes or champions from League of Legends, most notably Rumble and Ziggs.
He isn't a mirror copy, but a few of his skills do the exact same things as these two champions. Honestly all of the heroes in this game have a similar feel to them in some way shape or form so they don't feel truly unique to themselves.
That begs the question, why play this if a better version of it already exists?
 
How is the core gameplay?
Quite good considering the issues plaguing it.
While it might take some time to get used to, the game itself functions pretty well. The combat is intuitive when you know what your abilities actually do.
The satisfaction you get when you have lined up a good combo or flanked your opponents in a choke with your special winning you and your allies the game.
Would you recommend this game?
No
There is still way too much the game needs adjusted for it to look and feel good together. Everything is an eyesore to navigate is the main problem currently.
Perhaps when the game is released as a F2P game and not early access then I could probably recommend it but knowing how most developers handle things I doubt it.
This concludes my review of this game, while my opinions may be met with criticism, that's what makes gamers unique, you don't have to like the same things that others do, nor do you have to agree with them.
