Sonic the Hedgehog was murdered, and I know who did it

It all started innocently enough. Amy Rose, long-time associate of Sonic the Hedgehog, was hosting a birthday celebration with a murder mystery theme. The party was on a luxury train. Everyone who’s anyone had been invited, from Knuckles the Echidna to Blaze the Cat. Even the ultimate lifeform, Shadow the Hedgehog, had shown up.

The shindig was a star-stuffed affair, but I couldn’t shake the feeling that something was wrong. Maybe it was that the event was called The Murder of Sonic the Hedgehog, or maybe it was that it was happening on April Fools’ Day. It was definitely fishy, but since it was published and developed by Sega, I figured it had to be on the up and up. I ignored my suspicions and introduced myself to the other guests.

At first, the whole thing seemed like your typical murder mystery-themed birthday party held on a train. Amy explained the rules of the game and assigned each guest a role. I started to head towards my assigned position, but then the train lurched forward and everything went dark.

By the time I got my bearings, the unthinkable had happened. Sonic the Hedgehog, the blue blur himself, was lying dead on the floor! Was it all part of the game, or was something more sinister afoot? Either way, I was going to crack the case. I’d solve this mystery the way I always did: rummaging through trash cans, hunting for evidence, and playing my favorite Sonic-themed minigame on my trusty DreamGear.

I moved from one train car to the next, interrogating every suspect I came across. Some of them tried to dodge my questions, but when I turned up the heat, they came clean and told me what they knew. I thought that their answers would shed some light on this mystery, but every time I learned something new, it left me with even more questions.

As the birthday girl, Amy Rose had the means to kill Sonic, but why would she kill her favorite hedgehog? Since Shadow was Sonic’s rival, he had a potential motive, but did he have the opportunity to commit the crime? How come all the party guests were wearing gloves? Why was I being asked to defuse a bomb?

Then it hit me, like a bat straight to the noggin. Things didn’t make sense because Sonic wasn’t murdered by one of the party guests. The real culprit was someone else entirely.

That’s right, it was YOU, the person reading this. You killed Sonic with your mocking words and cruel japes. Every terrible piece of fan art was like a knife through his big blue heart. The real mystery here is why Sonic didn’t kick the bucket sooner.

(What’s that? You’re sure? Really?)
