Continental Chronicles of Novusaes: A Treacherous Epic of Chaos
The ambition of the southerners for territory and the desire of the northerners for survival led to a centuries-long tug-of-war between them along the boundary.
This was the inescapable doom of the continent with the chaos of zealots’ orgy.
At the turn of spring and winter in 1096, the power of the empire passed from the emperor to the pope, and divine authority took hold of the south. In the summer of 1099, the pope set fire of war to the boundary between north and south, and the rumors of "purge of faith" was spread among beggars, commoners and nobles. The wisdom of the so-called "god" and the forbidden power twisted the bodies and souls of soldiers. The orgy of the faithful signified the end of the continent, and the war left Novusaes riddled with scars.
It was a time when fear was rampant, when suspicion was rife.
Fallen poets begged for food with their pockets. Mercenaries and bandits switched between two identities at will. Women went mad in the midst of broken homes. The empire crossed the border with the power granted to the pope by the god and devoured the northern lands without scruple. Death and fear ravaged the northern kingdoms, whose strengh were already consumed by their encroachment on each other. The followers of Loth prayed for divine forgiveness, while the followers of Essoth used the wisdom of the god with abandon. Wailing and wild laughter spread across the world.
This was a hopeful summer with a rain of despair.
The monarchs made peace at the round table, so the four kingdoms were united as an alliance, with Alonzo, a count of the Kingdom of Baraigne, as commander of the allied forces. In the gloomy summer, it was not just the raindrops of despair that slipped from his armour, but also the dawn of the victory that the alliance yearned for.
Meanwhile, in the Klamig Forest, the northern part of Upper Daleth from which Alonzo's army started, a mercenary regiment bearing the name "Hyenas" roamed around in the shadows...
In a war fought under the banner of faith, people were heading for rebirth, or being brought to the end.
