Cats & Soup Review—An Ailurophile's Soupy Dream Come True

Translate
As someone who digs majestic felines more than anything in the world, I think I can self-proclaim myself as an ailurophile (a fancier of cats).
My love for these beautiful four-legged creatures IRL has pretty much grown to the extent where it spurred me to go on a hunt for a free-to-play (I’m a cheapskate, alright? Don’t judge) mobile game that can satisfy my insatiable whims on the go. Good Lord, who knows where my love for them had sprouted from?
Anyway, Cats & Soup (C&S) involves endearing kittens, and it’s a management game that hits the sweet spot of low intensity (as well as my heart). This entry to the idle game genre shows that the developer, HIDEA, thinks outside the box and knows how to execute them with spectacular graphics. Oh, and it’s cute as heck, too.
C&S starts off simple enough: having you on an empty land with a single cat companion that begins to stir a pot. For each bowl of soup that has been dished out, you will gain a certain amount of coins. Sell enough soups, and you can enhance the workspace. Not before long, you’ll be collecting cats to chop vegetables, wheezing juices, and even creating new recipes. I’m sure many would agree with me that it’s definitely a much healthier choice than Cookie Clicker, that’s for sure!
As I progressed through the game, it eventually dawned on me that the overly simple game mechanics does, in a certain sense, become quite a bore yet remains quite addictive. Most crucially, the adorable art style has you hooked on filling up the cookbook and the land with all the cats possible (Yes, mates, it’s because I’m a hoarder). What’s more, nothing beats feasting my eyes on the adorable cats going about their thing while immersed in soothing music.
On the other hand, I think what contributes to the downside of C&S is the game’s dependence on ads. What this means is that you will have to sit through an ad before getting your hands on coins and other in-game currencies. Thankfully, I found the durations to be pretty short, so it offers me a sort of break time to do something else. It’s an excellent option for anyone who loves to chill and mess around with your phone while half-watching something on the telly, IMO.
Fancy a relaxing game that is both a foodie’s and an ailurophile’s dream come true, why don’t you check out the game here?
