[Dev Blog #13] Sneak Peek into New Gameplay

Hey fellow hunters, as we are ramping up the development of new gameplays for CBT2, due to the epidemic, the entire dev team is working from home now (and we are just as hard-working as any of the workdays!). We wanted to carry out more quality inspections for CBT2 for a smooth and polished experience for Torchlight hunters, thus we are going to delay the Closed Beta just by a few days in late April. 
Now, let's dive into some highly anticipated new gameplays!
The Dark Surge Invasion
Dark Surge Invasion is one of the key gameplays in this Closed Beta, and it is fondly to carry into the final release as Torchlight Infinite's first official expansion.
Out of the Aember, the Aemberons were born... The sudden outburst of massive flows of Aemberons has formed the unmerciful rise of Dark Surge. The Dark Surge is inevitable to no hunters. When a hunter's corrosion meter reaches max capacity, dangerous spawn of Dark Surge Aemberons can be summoned at will.
Hunters will face the challenge of Dark Surge during both main quests and Netherrealm gameplays. The rewards from a spawn is generous, hunters will find currency, corroded gears and corroded legendaries. When a map boss is also infected by Dark Surge, an ultra ferocious Familiar shall arrive upon the boss' death. After the familiar is defeated as well, hunters will obtain Edicts that leads to the final boss of Dark Surge, the Tidemaster.
Both Familiar and Tidemaster withhold special legendaries, and these legendary gears holds unrevealed unique affixes... Chances for channeling Impact or Displacement skill, resistance reinforcement, strengthened attributes, and mysterious Dark Surge Tentacle Handguards, which is always infused with random infinite legendary affixes...
Besides Aemberons, hunter may encounter a mysterious person who is also hunting Tidemaster - Zenoth the Lightless. He shall assit hunters with Forbidden Craft:
• Forbidden Craft on regular gears yields to different possibilities:
      • Resetting affixes' value without affecting gear tier;
      • Breakthrough T1 affixes to powerful ember-affixes in T0;
      • Or, nothing happens. But of course, no Forbidden Crafted gears will be able to reverse back to its pre-corrosion status for further Forbidden Craft.
• Forbidden Craft on legendaries will either strengthen existing affixes, or reset the gears with different affixes. For example, legendary gear Honoured Commander Boots with +8% dodge for every stack of Agility Blessing, will be converted into +(2-4)% chance to avoid damage per stack of Agility Blessing after Forbidden Craft.
Path of the Brave
Path of the Brave is another new gameplay different from Netherrealm. Forecasted in Dev Blog #8, Torchlight dev team has been working on designing a new gameplay on superior fortification aiming for battle-head hunters to push through boundaries, and, It is finally ready for the upcoming Closed Beta!
It unlocks after hunter defeats Shadow of Thunderlight in Netherrealm Timemark 5, the Path of the Brave invitation tickets will drop in following Timemarks for hunters to enter the challenge. This gameplay is a tower-challenge. Each floor's victory unlocks a new floor beneath set with randomized affixes. Rewards will be issued when a challenge is completed, and every 5 floors of victories grant a chance to additional prices.
You must be curious about the spoils now, right? In Path of the Brave, rewards include:
• Level 21 Support skills;
• Some level 21 special Support skills, like Selfishness and Restrain;
• And corresponding Fate Cards.
New Difficulty in Netherrealm
Neatherrealm challenge will most likely become a permanent gameplay for Torchlight: Infinite as it is justified with promising data in the first Closed Beta. This time, in CBT2, we added a whole new difficulty - Spacetime Turbulence. Level 21 Aura skills, Active skills and related Fate Cards are the rewards for it.
We are racing to the finish line for all the new gameplays. We hope our hunters will generously understand that our current art production capacity is still limited, new gameplays in this CBT2 might not be all visually polished to its best state. We will be optimizing UI, spawning models, field settings and all the other art materials gradually. Let's enjoy a better Torchlight journey together!

Sweet, another closed beta. These are great to play around in, right up until Diablo releases and I forget this game ever existed. Kudos to the developers transparency, and really awful timing.

Sounds like alot of our concerns have been addressed I really like to see ricochet coming back for gun users. Way back before torch light when you guys will not you guys but when mythos was developed the ricochet gun user was essential.

I just watch YouTuber Vulkan.  He has a video going over the game. All my hype for DI has officially be transfered to this game. It comes down to endgame and monetization. I will be more than happy to buy things that make me look cool. DI is making spending money too close to mandatory. The systems, the game play and everything else about this game is looking great. I'm excited to play.
