Legendary gear is necessary for PvP, as far as PvE, not really. But without paying, you need to slot your gems wisely to be adept and progress.

it is pay to win garbage .. pvp is ruined for f2p .. you cannot ewen sell your stuff unless you overpay and buy the eternal legendary crests .. so if you not planing to spend money don't ewen think of enjoying the game fully .. I my opinion it is trash
