[Dev Blog #21] Adjustment Plans for Microtransactions
Greetings, Hunters!
The Closed Beta has ended, but it does not mean we are done making adjustments to the game. We have carefully considered the feedback and suggestions you have given us and gone through many internal discussions with our development team, resulting in some adjustment plans and ideas on payment methods.
In particular, the adjustment plans published in this blog do not represent the final version. We will continue reading your feedback and suggestions to constantly verify our adjustments and make further changes before the official launch.
Trade House Booth Tabs
The Trade House is a very important system in Torchlight: Infinite. Torchlight: Infinite is an ARPG designed around loot, so there is a vast variety of loot like gear, materials, commodities, beacons, etc. As you keep advancing and changing, your needs for certain types of loot will be constantly changing.
When you find yourself with loot that you temporarily do not require or really desire a certain Legendary gear, the Trade House will be perfect for the job. The Trade House facilitates exchanges between Hunters. You will be able to sell what you don't need and quickly purchase what you urgently require. In this case, the amount of items that each player could put up for sale is extremely important for encouraging trade and maintaining a certain level of trading in the Trade House.
After receiving your feedback on Booth Tabs, our discussions led us to the following changes:
● Base free Booth Tab slots are increased.
● The price for each Booth Tab (that contains 12 Booth Tab slots) is reduced.
● A purchased Season Pass will grant you a free Booth Tab at the beginning.
We hope these adjustments will be able to meet your needs for Booth Tabs, encourage trades, and ensure long-term activity in the Trade House throughout the season.
Hero Traits
The Hero trait system is a well-worth sharing design.
Unlike the traditional class or job system adopted by other ARPGs, Torchlight: Infinite uses the hero system to differentiate each player’s focus. For example, the melee specialist Berserker Rehan, the master of frost and fire Gemma, the illusion summoner Youga, the master commander of minions Moto, the projectile expert Carino, and the Blessing user Thea who's about to be released... We completed the design of 6 heroes for now, and more heroes will be added to Torchlight: Infinite at a later date, bringing brand new experiences and battle styles to you.
It's the same for hero traits. The original plan was to design 3 hero traits for each hero, take Gemma as an example, the design of her 3 traits focuses on frost, fire, and a fusion of both, while each trait will have the same appearance in our original design.
However, we have expanded on that. Hero traits are now considered as taking the hero in a different direction. For example, Gemma's recently completed trait, Frostbitten Heart, comes with a complete background story and a brand new appearance.
——The fire energy in Gemma's mechanical arm is gradually drying up, so she finally responds to the calls of Zoya within her and starts her slow journey to the Arctic Land. Endless frost assaults Gemma. Zoya merges all her powers of frost into Gemma's soul to save her life, while Zoya's own soul perishes. Crystals of ice form around Gemma as she abandons the energy of fire in the Frostbitten Heart state. She gains greater proficiency in Cold Skills, and her battle style is completely different from her previous Ice-Fire Fusion state.
In terms of both the time and the effort spent on designing each new hero trait, we now treat them as brand new heroes. Therefore, these hero traits which represent brand new play styles and gaming experiences will be added to the game in the form of paid content.
We are also aware that our players do not endorse with obtaining hero traits through gacha system. Our discussions led to the following decisions:
● All future new heroes, in other words, their first hero traits will be directly unlocked via purchasing the Season Pass.
● The other hero traits like Gemma's Frostbitten Heart and Carino's Lethal Flash will be available for direct purchase.
● In addition, we will increase the avenues available to obtain hero traits for free. Other hero traits can also be unlocked by accumulating in-game resources or accomplishing certain achievements like Youga's 2nd hero trait, Spacetime Elapse.
These adjustments will bring stable and direct avenues to obtain hero traits. Furthermore, we will be adding a free trial function in our future plans, in which our players will be able to experience the combat style that comes with the new hero trait for a limited time before deciding if you would like to purchase it.
Season Pass
The Season Pass itself comes with abundant rewards. The free rewards include Revival Tokens, Elixirs of Oblivion, Jagged Primocrysts, and Insight Crystals. In addition to a larger quantity of these consumables, paid rewards include outfit effects, weapon effects, body effects, back accessories, and many other amazing rewards, as well as an extremely important function—Advanced Auto-pick. However, after further discussion, we have decided to make our Season Pass' even more favorable.
As mentioned in the Trade House Booth Tab and Hero Trait sections above, paid Season Passes will include the following rewards in addition to the existing rewards:
● A pack of 12 Booth Tab slots for the Trade House.
● The 1st hero trait for the new hero in the current season. Such as Thea's Wisdom of The Gods.
In addition, we have also made an adjustment to the Auto-pick function—
● The base Auto-pick will be released in the free Season Pass rewards and will not have to be unlocked via purchases anymore.
The above is our current adjustment plans for paid content. It was an honor to receive so much sincere and serious feedback from you during the closed beta test. It is the love and concern that you have for Torchlight: Infinite which makes you openly discuss your views and suggestions.
Torchlight: Infinite is a project we have been developing for years, and we hope it will stay strong for years to come and be loved by even more players. We absolutely do not wish to see something like paid content affecting your trust in Torchlight: Infinite and your willingness to experience this game we painstakingly designed. We will strive to create a "win-win situation" with your help—a solution that is commercially viable to us and able to gain your love and recognition.
Feel free to tell us your thoughts and we will always be listening.
