The Isla-Guide—How to Power Up in Doula Continent: Soul Master Duel, Part 1

[/i]Ever since BlancoZone Network released the game back in July, Doula Continent: Soul Master Duel (DCSMD) has become part and parcel of my life. Not a single day goes by without me engrossed in a screen about half the size of my face.

DCSMD is a strategic MMORPG set in the 斗罗大陆 (Soul Land) universe, but there’s a massive difference between surviving and thriving in Soul Land.

With any luck, this guide may just help you find your footing in the world of Soul Land a little quicker than I did. Here’s how to survive Soul Land and get the most out of it.

Align Yourself with the ‘Right’ Team ASAP

Combat Power stands for the most significant part of DCSMD, as it is the total power of your entire team. It goes without saying that the higher your level of Combat Power is, the higher your chances of going up against some of the more formidable and powerful NPC (or players) in the game. 

There are a series of considerations you might want to sleep on before you begin enlisting in the ‘right’ soul masters to your team.

Soul masters are first categorised into five vocations—the 强攻系 (Attack), 敏攻系 (Agility), 輔助系 (Support), 控制係 (Control), and 防禦系 (Defense). With each category, soul masters will offer differing abilities and buffs to the team during the duels.

Following on, soul masters are then further categorised based on their rarity—SSR (Gold), SR (Purple), and R (Blue) units. Sure, the SSR units provide your team with the highest stats, but SR and R units are equally beneficial. At the end of the day, it all goes down to how you team the soul masters up. No pressure, right?

Double-Check Your Soul Ring’s Stats, and Make Sure You Farm Suitable Ones 

Each soul master requires 魂環 (Soul Ring)—a special energy body representing the cultivation of soul beasts—for their skills. According to the soul masters’ vocation and abilities, they will require soul rings of different types, stats, and maturity.

If you’re getting walloped, there is a likely chance that your team isn’t inflicting an adequate amount of power, as you’ve given them soul rings with the wrong stats (A mistake that I somehow always make). 

So, all you have to do is head towards the 獵魂森林 (Soul Hunting Forest), 落日森林 (Sunset Forest), and 星斗森林 (Astral Forest) to farm for soul rings. Just take a close look at the stats of each soul ring and present them to the most suitable soul master. 

Then Farm for Soul Bones

As you explore, you’ll soon discover that soul masters also require 魂骨 (Soul Bone)—bones left following the death of a soul beast. As soon as you equip a soul master with a soul bone, you’ll find that it will increase their power exponentially.

Much like soul masters, soul bones also feature three rarity grades—SSR (Gold), SR (Purple), and R (Blue). When it comes to this, I’d recommend you to aim for the soul bones with SSR grade, as they provide the most boost in power.Following on, you will be able to farm for soul bones in 世界懸賞 (Worldly Bounty), and 落日森林 (Sunset Forest). Be sure to set aside some energy and time for them!

Embark on a Storyline Spree

It may sound like a no-brainer, but the immense appeal of DCSMD is the extensive content that pulls you in a hundred different directions at once. You start off with the storyline, and before you know it, you’ve spent a couple of hours clearing your dailies and world exploration.

However, each chapter of the two storyline difficulties—Regular and Hard—drops loot that will enhance the Combat Power. Once you have completed the chapter, you will then be able to unlock the 掃蕩 (Raid) function, which allows you to acquire the loots automatically (with a daily limit of 4 chances).At the same time, you can also do so at the individual soul master’s character page. Once you have met the specific requirements, you’ll be able to enhance the soul master’s 魂力 (Soul Power) and stats. So, do make time for them, as it is an easy place to grind for loot to power up.
