Mudoku: Chinese Woodcraft on display at the Guimet Museum

Dearest Artisans,
The game was first displayed outside of China at the 2018 Next Idea Creativity Contest held at the louvre, France. The contest invited young Chinese artists to compete, stipulating contestants to use the image of the Mona Lisa for their pieces. Over 100 designs were submitted. Mudoku: Chinese Woodcraft was one of the pieces on display. This marked the first time the game was featured in Europe.
At a Chinese-creativity themed exhibition at the Guimet Museum, Paris, January 30, 2019, Mudoku: Chinese Woodcraft was officially added to the museum’s extensive collection of Asian art and is on display to visitors from France and around the world.
The T formed by a horizontal piece of wood atop a vertical piece of wood was representative of traditional Chinese architecture in the eyes of French people. Moduku: Chinese Woodcraft not only holds value for its traditional cultural and artistic content, but its content is relatable in its current form. It is the fusion of young innovation and traditional culture. This game promotes China’s amazing traditional culture, but also enriches Sino-French communication. We also hope that this type of communication will spread around the world and allow an increasing number of young people to experience traditional art.
