Boom Karts Game Review: A fresh approach to the kart racing genre
At first glance, Boom Karts appears to be similar to most other traditional Kart racing games. Drifting, collecting, and using power-ups, zippy-looking karts race through the circuit, causing mayhem. Hill Climb Racing is considered the beginning, Hill Climb Racing 2 is considered Fingersoft's debut into multiplayer racing, and Boom Karts is considered a 3D version featuring tracks and a power-ups system
Make use of power-ups and overcome obstacles
Multiple tracks, power-ups, and hurdles are included in the game. You steer by pressing the left and right sides of the screen as the game accelerates for you. Keep in mind that there are no brakes, so keep an eye out for players and unexpected obstructions on the track. Drifting increases your speed, and you can employ a variety of power-ups to assault your opponents. Again, nothing spectacular, but it manages to keep your attention for a while. Aside from the primary game mode, which you'll get to try initially, there's also an adventure mode, which offers a variety of difficulties that are somewhat different from the quick play style of the regular mode. You can also play with your friends in private lobbies. One of the main issues is the power-up imbalance. If a missile has locked onto you or a canon is heading your way, there's virtually no way to defend yourself. Crawling to the top but losing your place because missiles lock on the player in the first position is extremely frustrating, and having a way to protect yourself would make it much better due to the added factor of timing. The power-ups are likewise dispersed across the game, and they aren't common enough to be entertaining.
The user interface and controls are simple, but the graphics are subpar
The game appears to be very low poly even with the visual settings on high, and while there isn't much you can expect graphically from a cart racer, the graphics stand out as being well below average. The game's music isn't any better. The sound effects are good, and the beats are cool.
The game controls are simple to grasp and you'll quickly become accustomed to them. Simply move your mouse to the right or left side of the screen to move in that direction, and the game will accelerate for you. The user interface is straightforward and easy to use.
Bugs and in-app purchases are unavoidable in this game.
The game has adverts that appear every now and then, as well as In-App Purchases. Chests, cash, and diamonds are examples of items. These make the game much easier, and if you're ready to spend money on them, you'll be able to progress much faster. This could be a source of contention among players.Final Verdict
Boom Karts isn't a bad game; its issue is that it doesn't bring anything fresh or original to the table. This, combined with its flaws, makes the game tough to recommend over Mario Kart World Tour. While games like Hill Climb Racing provided fun and lighthearted experience, this one felt to be missing something.
