It’s a paid game, but the first chapter is free. The whole version is $6.99.
Without arguing about it’s paid or it’s free. I think I like it. I would recommend it to every of my friend who would like to try some special things. Even it’s called Unmaze. It’s not the puzzle game you would expect. The core of the game is story-telling. The experience is more like reading a Junji Ito which brings you to a chilling, weird, unimaginable world.
The plot’s captivating. My boyfriend (The protagonist is a girl)and his little brother are lost in a maze, or more precisely, a mysterious ancient civilization ruin. And only I can contact them with a crystal which I found in the little brother's room. So it’s up to me to save them outta the maze. They’re tracked in a mysterious ancient ruin. Some scenes are bizarre but cool. Thanks to the excellent art design, I’m really immersed in the world the game present.
The light mechanic is a unique feature. I don't know how to describe it accurately. It's your boyfriend who is trapped in the Light, and his little brother is trapped in the Dark. The gameplay is based on the phone’s light sensor. You need to place your phone in the light to talk to your BF or in the shade to talk to his brother.
The game is nonlinear, If you keep helping one of them, it seems that would affect the outcome of another one.
If you want to experience a puzzle game or hate a story-telling game, just don’t waste your time downloading it.
