Pascal's Wager should be the best Souls-like game available on your phone because it retains almost all the elements the Souls players are familiar with. The game is extremely hard, even for a seasoned Souls player like me, Pascal's Wager still has me dying repeatedly.
If you have never played Dark Soul or other souls-like games, please keep calm and patient after you face repetitive
deaths, since it’s inevitable. Though the process is suffering and painful, I promise you, you would get unprecedented pleasure after overcoming the challenges the game shows you.
The map of Pascal’s Wager is a confusing and intriguing maze full of detail. Unlike some other empty open-worlds, there’re many branch roads to explore. And the core of all features the boss fight is always making me breathless and palm sweaty, scared of facing the next one. The Boss Holy Father, 10 tries later, I keep getting kicked ass by him.
For a mobile game, Pascal’s Wager is perfect. But if you take all games from different platforms into account, Pascal’s Wager fails to differentiate itself much from those Soul-likes games. From Bloodborne to Elden Ringhe FROM SOFTWARE always brought something new. That’s something Pascal’s Wager needs to put more effort into.
In general, if you want to start out a "Soul Series" journey on the mobile phone, there is no better choice than Pascal Wager. Of course, if you want the best, it's the Elden Ring.

ICEY is definitely a hidden gem.
For those who didn’t know, ICEY is a 2D platformer with Devil May Cry-like action accompanied by a narrator who will get irritated if you don’t follow his instructions (think of The Stanley Parable).
The game is relatively short. I had my first ending (defeating Judas) in around 90 minutes. But believe me, it worth your time and penny.
What’s Good
Really great action, visual and sound design. A quality combination of action, visual and sound make ICEY an excellent action experience.
- a sci-fi setting, a good fit for this game
- 16 different combinations of moves in the game; satisfying to see ICEY grow stronger, perform different combos and level up once you get yourself familiar with these moves and beat up the enemies
- dazzling visual effect during combat
- the music gets intense gradually on your way to find Judas, the final boss; will make you feel that “the moment has finally come!”
Jack is the most challenging boss to me. He’s quick, and it took me about six times to beat him. Combat tips from me: use Dodge a lot.
Breaking the fourth wall
The game has what we called “breaking the fourth wall” design - the narrator talks to you directly. Fictionality and reality are intertwined.
Highly replayable
There are 34 trophies to collect in ICEY. Given that the game is kinda choice-based, you will need to replay the game a few times to get all the trophies. Trust me, it’s not boring to replay the game; the narrator will offer you a good ride.
The intangible philosophical thing
It is probably because of the narration (and some achievement called “The Abyss Watches Back”), ICEY will get you to think that “wow this action game is deep”. You will question the identity of ICEY, the identity of you as the player, and the instructions in gaming in general.
What’s Bad
Overall I’m pretty impressed with ICEY. if you’d ask me what’s the one thing that makes the game less satisfying, I would say the narrator’s performance.
ICEY is available in five languages: English, French, Japanese, Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese, which means that each has a different narrator.
I’ve played the Simplified Chinese version and the English version. The former one is good, considering that the game itself is developed by a Chinese team. The English narrator’s performance, however, seems “trying too hard” to me. So, instead of having the fun of disobeying him, I sometimes find him annoying.

You'll probably choose this game because of its hack & slash action and beautiful pixel art style.
BUT, I must warn you! ⚠️ This game, its beginning difficulty is insane and it really snarls the first-time players.
I played the game and did the tutorial (I have to mention that controls are not complicated, easy to pick up). Then...I started the first level, and almost died in the first room💀 Imagine entering a room with no idea what's in there. Two skeletons will madly rush you, while the other two shoot at you at a high rate, and when you get hit 5 or 6 times you die. You can only dodge or block those attacks while killing the enemy one by one. Or, you'll see a big DEATH on the screen, let's try again.
Of course, the game's designers aren't too boring to torture players... The good news is that you can upgrade the basic, defense, and attack of your character with gold so you'll be ready for deeper levels.
Honestly, I don't think this hack & slash game is all that great. Even though the combat and control are good, we have difficulties all the time which force you to grind the same level over and over again. We really need to get stronger (technically) so we can defeat enemies and bosses. (I'm including enemies because some enemy combinations can be more challenging than the boss)

● The first free act has1-hour gameplay and we can replay as many times as you want.
● The design of the boss fight needs to be improved, if you master the dashing, the game difficulty would plummet.
In the collection, Grimvalor is one of few games that focus on platformers. Although the game is more like a 3D mobile Castlevania for me, he does borrow some elements from Dark Souls. In general, I'm surprised by the production quality of Grimvalor made in 2019, the gameplay and game content far surpasses its competitors.
Discussing the difficulty, the Grimvalor creates a number of remarkable challenges, and not hard as typical souls games would be. If you haven't played many games and want to find a nice game as an elementary guide, you can choose to play the Grimvalor, it won’t let you down. For someone who wants to overcome some real challenges, the form of platformer makes it easier to find out the fighting trick. So if you master dashing, the game difficulty would plummet.
The graphics of the game are outstanding. It recreates a 2D platformer game with 3D characters and 3D scenes. For the feature I like the most, Grimvalor didn’t make the character clumsy to increase the difficulty.
in general, Grimvalor has found a perfect balance between difficulty and pleasure for beginners.

One look is all I require to deem this game as something Dark-Soul-ish, yet it somehow can’t pull off that slashing poise of the Soulsborne series.
Without a vast world to explore, the South Korean developer, Tenbirds Corp, has sectioned AH into small arcadey stages that provide no regions to uncover the rich lores and history of the damaged universe.
Instead, the once familiar fighting mechanics—you being massively underpowered and having to resort to strafing around to evade the massive threats—has all but been stripped away, leaving behind core violence in the mobile package. That may have been Tenbirds Corp’s intention of amping up the difficulty, but I reckon this will only work for some people but not for others.
Apart from that, I was presented with an almost overwhelming number of buttons to consider as I strive to smash giant monsters into gory lumps in each stage. Yet, these janky controls and exceedingly swift camera speed don’t make the combat any more manageable as it’s infuriating trying to get my fingers and thumbs where it is supposed to be at the right time.
Although the arena style of taking down the big bosses may have been quite well-designed, the combats do become somewhat repetitive as soon as you’ve figured out the bosses’ janky (unique?) move sets. Thus, AH doesn’t possess any wounded charm of an actual Soulsborne game.
