Each friend has a specified amount of Nova, which can be created for you once play is over, and they may lose or gain more depending on the buffs and debuffs played throughout the game.

They also each have their own play costs, so you should weigh your options carefully before connecting your friends. The strategy doesn't get boring as the matches are fast-paced, but you should make good use of your deck to see through your opponent's strategy.
