Onmyoji Arena x Jujutsu Kaisen Collab is Suspended or Cancelled due to Political Issue
Onmyoji IP(4 Onmyoji games including Onmyoji RPG, Onmyoji Arena, Onmyoji TCG and Onmyoji Yokai Koya) were supposed to begin their Jujutsu Kaisen Collab in early April 2022. But sadly, literally a week before the official reveal of the Collab characters and event, a political issue occurred involving Jujutsu Kaisen Movie 0 twitter account.
Don't want to go into the details of it but because of a statement they made, it angered the citizens of China and all companies that were associated with JJK immediately blocked all words and content related to them. Some social media platforms also banned words related to them.
Coming to Onmyoji Arena, NETEASE immediately stopped the talisman collection event. Players usually collect collab talisman a month and a half before the collab begins by playing games every week. They then use those talisman to exchange for Collab characters/shikigami for free without using any real life money. Coming to Onmyoji Yokai Koya(a type of Onmyoji Animal Crossing game with pinball), they even changed the Games App icon to that of a little Yuji Itadori, as shown in the attached image. They then changed the app icon immediately after this issue.
All 4 games immediately struggled to fill in the gap of JJK collab. We currently do not know if the Collab has been cancelled for good or if it's just suspended for now till it all cools down. The collab talisman are still present in Onmyoji Arena accounts which collected it. So fingers crossed for now~
Oh by the way this collab was only available in China, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau regions.
