What is the "Golden Age" of Gaming

to explain before all the microtransactions, pay-to-win, and other games involving spending tons of money to have fun playing a f2p game. There was a time when you just enjoyed the game no need to spend extra money to get something in-game or even worry about it.

I wouldn't say the Golden Age is dead but just monetized to the highest degree not saying all game companies are like that but a good majority of them have the " Let me get as much money as possible from my player base".
