How to maximize players' initiative in tower defense strategy games:Can players be game designer???

Because of the existence of such popular tower defense games as plants vs. Zombies, I believe that most players have been exposed to tower defense games, but this is still only a small category in strategy games, and even because of the serious commercialization, the proportion of strategy in tower defense games is getting lower and lower.
Some time ago, I saw an interesting post on reddit. The creator of the post is a game developer. He said that he is making a game in which players can design towers in the game. This post attracted the attention of a large number of players, who expressed their ideas on its design in comments one after another. Many ideas are so creative that people who read them can't help but realize them one by one in their minds.
It is said that the relationship between weight and speed is considered
It is said that some kind of fuel or energy mechanism is added to each component.
It is said that increasing the synergy between various components will produce different injuries and effects with different combinations
It is said that forced path is enabled
There are still a lot of it...
I have seen some creative workshops of tower defense games on steam before. Most of the mods focus on maps, characters and languages. There are not many mods that really change the depth of the game, but increasing the initiative of players is an inevitable trend of tower defense games.
I recently played a game called candy disaster. It is cute, interesting and difficult. It is a game worth starting with. However, I think there are many areas for improvement, such as whether the uncertainty of the enemy's path can be increased, the play of combined traps seems to be a little less, the direction of trap upgrading, and so on. Fortunately, after hearing about this game, I will join the creative workshop. I hope that players can be more free to set the traps they want, the number of traps, and the combined effects of traps. Let's look forward to it
