The goods and bass of asphalt 9.
THE BAD:
The physics:The physics are an important part to a racing game and many other games but asphalt 9’s are way to weird. First of all when it comes to racing in asphalt 9 it can seem like the game is trying to kill you by making your car flip and do a million backflips which you have no control over and while you can try to hold a to steady the car back up it won’t save you 100% of the time. Also, some cars are just way too unstable cough cough Porsche 911gt2 clubsport and the physics of this car are just flat out weird like how in some videos with the car it will do endless 360’s.
Greed:All games have to survive some how but asphalt takes this too far. Whenever I play I am disappointed with the excessive expensive bundles, and while one could say “well they have to survive somehow” I also believe that they should maybe lower the prices of some things like $100 for a McLaren p1 bundle that is overpriced. Also Asphalt 9 had this thing called special events and occasionally drive syndicates, but the thing about those is how expensive it is to get the car and like the last drive syndicate you need about $4,000 just to complete it and more to further upgrade.
Hacking:While hacking may not seem like a huge problem if the hacks get patched in about a week it’s still a bug problem and is present on android. Now, while you may not lose much in multiplayer but what about grandprix? (Grandprix are these events where you can buy packs to better upgrade you car for better times and the top 3 players in the grandprix get the key.) Now, a lot more is on the line when it comes to grandprix your blood sweat and tears all wasted because there is a hacker in your lobby and just boost of the starting line at lightning speed and you have wait for him or her to get banned or accept that you are screwed.
Knockdowns:Ahh yes, a staple of asphalt beside the obnoxious nitro at the back the knockdowns feel quite rewarding to get but in asphalt 9 the knockdowns feel soo weird. First of all sometimes you can be riding behind someone and you ram into the back of them but you get knocked down even though they weren’t in shockwave? Also, sometimes what would seems like a knockdown where you are raming them several times in a row won’t knock them down, but a love tap will.
The AI:The AI in this game are soo annoying like I will be driving in a time based event and the AI will do everything they can to slow me down wether that means drifting into me driving me into a wall to wreck or blocking a ramp. Don’t even get me started on the cops ohhh boy. The cops in this game are soo bad and since there are a million of them in hunted and a fraction of that in credit heist and what the cops will do is they will go in front of you and slow down to 22mph and you can’t 360 cause you going too slow but you don’t have enough for shockwave so you have to sit and wait for them to let you go and by then you time is messed up.
The GOOD:
Legend pass: While this might seem suggestive it allows new players who want to have a progressed boost in the game it allows them to get a decent car while not having to wait ten years and while I do dislike having special events locked behind pay walls, but I do like the idea of letting people get a car that isn’t to overpower for its class but isn’t downright useless. Except the EP9 Nio.
Multiplayer modes: Sometimes I get bored playing one individual type of multiplayer mode so having different modes like ghost slipstream and etc feels good. Also when you reach different leagues it feels so satisfying for the first time but can we remove rush 2.0 for the love of god.
Car based multiplayer races: One of the things we ask ourselves before going for a car is if it is worth my time and effort. One of the things I like is how the release some car based multiplayer races so people get an idea of how the car performs and weather they should actually go for it and I really like this feature so that people don’t have to run to a asphalt YouTube for their input.
Fuel system: While I hate this feature for cars it does help in multiplayer. Haven’t you noticed how in each league their is a certain type of car and nothing else and while some may see it as bad it does prevent spamming in multiply and allows the player to decide if they want to try their luck with another car or just wait it out.
Summary:
While some people will absolutely despise GameLoft and what they are we should give them the benefit of the doubt and appreciate what we do have and what we have gotten. So, while not all is good their is good in the worst.
