THUMBAGE has a way of doing the same thing that every one else is doing and still managing to make it look just a little better.
A perfect example of how things are improved can be seen by looking at the story. It plays out a lot like RAGNANIA, but without the music changing every few seconds. Both do not voice the dialog and have characters that move their mouths along with the text. The one minor difference makes them feel like entirely different formats.
The battles have an auto button, so there is only so much you can enjoy before the game starts playing itself. I do like this method of skill type or strength being the result of how many cards are combined by drawing a hand. This reminds me of netmarble's Seven Deadly Sins game. It is a clever way to replace the timers and excess of buttons.
There is not a whole lot that will appear new or even different than the last turn-based anime game, but it still manages to seem better made.
