CAN YOU HANDLE ROGUELIKE ELEMENTS IN A TOWER DEFENSE – ISLE OF ARROWS REVIEW

Translate
Isle of Arrows is a Multiplatform (Mobile and PC) Tower Defense game, but with a very interesting twist: You cant pick which towers and paths to place, they are randomly picked from your deck and this review will tell you about this game. So there it is, Roguelike TD!
At first it seems pretty easy to manage all those random paths and you have some old good Tetris feeling, where you need that specific part to be available to maximize your performance. Enemies start easy too, and most of the mistakes you can make will be forgiven.
But as the time goes by, enemies are getting tougher, getting physical and magical shields, armor, more health and you need to think harder on how to build your towers, buildings and paths in order to properly defend your base and dont lose health. In the campaign you can get another surprise – additional lane will open and now you have to build 2, or maybe even 3 defense grids. Good thing is that you can plan ahead and use same tower on different lane as well. And that there are limited amount of levels per chapter/ campaign.
At the moment you can play tutorial, 3 campaigns, gauntlet and daily defense. Campaigns are self explanatory, moreover in order to unlock other game modes you will have to complete some campaign stages. In the daily defense you compete with other players on the same starting map to get the highscore on the leaderboard.
As you progress the game you will unlock variety of towers, roads, additional buildings, bonuses and relics that will be added to your deck and will have a chance appearing on your next run, hopefully making it easier.
All those factors of randomness and modifiers will make replayability of this game way higher than normal tower defense games, where once you completed the level, there is no point going through it again. And ability to show off your skill in the daily dungeon to compete with others might attract your competitive part.
