FRAG: A Fallen God
FRAG is honestly the best mobile game I have EVER played. However, this does not reference the game in its current state, rather when I played it most a few years ago. Back in 2018 when I first played the game, I loved it. It was the only mobile game I played for a long time and still is the best mobile gaming experience I’ve ever had. From what I hear nowadays the game is very pay-2-win but my perspective on that now can’t really be counted as my collection is way behind just from not playing much in a couple of years.
When I played most however, not saying that you couldn’t get an advantage from spending money, but I did very well with what I would consider bad cards compared to the players around me. I found that skill played a big role in games and joined the best club in the world at the time, 3CHO Esports, with only 1 legendary and no lvl 11 cards. In fairness, I returned to the game recently and on a new account got 60 wins in a row so skill definitely still plays a factor, although I can’t say that I faced any legends tied during that time (did still face better decks than mine).
Now, let’s address another huge factor: Ads. Back in 2018, there were still some ads, don’t get me wrong, but the game now is what I can only compare to RAID Shadow Legends in terms of ads, it’s actually abysmal. I can’t play the game without first clicking through 5 ads encouraging you to buy a multitude of offers, which I guess in turn makes spenders spend more money, possible increasing the P2W aspect.
I’m not saying the game is bad now, the gameplay is still generally good. I sadly can’t really see myself returning to the game, although that is more so due to me being so far behind in terms of the new characters; I’ll get bored if I start a new account as I can only get that new game feeling once and my main one feels overwhelming to look at with every op character around me that I don’t own. Don’t take this review all to seriously in terms of what the game is now, go play it for yourself if you haven’t before, I would still recommend it. Rather, this is more so a tribute to what the game used to be and to how this game will always be seen as a golden age for me but at the same time, I don’t see myself getting hooked again. 🫡
