Spider-Man: Miles Morales (PC Quick Review)
Released: November 18, 2022
Price: $49.99
"Is it worth it?" is a question you may be asking yourself even as you read this post. It's a sensible thing to do in this day and age, when most games are made or ported from consoles - PCs are terribly lacking in every manner imaginable with one goal in mind: to make as much money as possible with little effort.
We'll be going over some major aspects of this game that stood out both wonderfully and slightly disappointing. Remember, this is coming from someone who hasn't played a Spider-Man game since 2004.
Who is Miles Morales?
If you've been out of the loop for the last 8 years or so, you should at the very least know who Miles Morales is from social media coverage, friends/family, or browsing catalogues and articles like this one, especially since the critically acclaimed film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse was released in 2018.
Miles Morales is the ultimate universe's second Spider-Man, following Peter Parker after his "alleged" death. He presently resides on Earth-616 with the Peter Parker of the Marvel Universe.
The plot follows a teenage Miles Morales as he is adjusting himself and his life to his new home in NYC while following in the footsteps of his mentor, Peter Parker, as more or less of a stand in Spider-Man while he is on "holiday".
If you've played any of the original Spider-Man games, such as Spider-Man 64, Spider-Man 2, or the prequel to this, you'll have a general idea of what you'll be doing: helping citizens, completing tasks while completing main objectives in a slightly open world while swinging around New York City beating up bad guys.
You don't really need to know Spider-Man to enjoy Spider-Man.
Upsides
Graphics
Graphics are amazing, clean and clear, and support high frame rates.
The swinging mechanic
Swinging around NYC is equally as exhilarating as it was in the previous edition.
The difficulty
At higher difficulty levels, combat is fluid, responsive, and demanding.
The customization
You can personalize your Spider-Man to your preferences.
The visual cutscenes
The cinematics are fantastic, with no loading delays so far.
The audio
The music is excellent. You may also opt to listen to podcasts or radio instead.
Downsides
Weird looking interior windows
Windows that you can view have visible pngs that differ from the others.
While this isn't a game-breaking issue, it's interesting that they didn't simply blend the images together so you wouldn't notice this minor flaw or blur it.
If you look through one window and then through the other, it's as if you're in a whole different area, with different things in place of where a wall or door should be, but this is another part of the game that doesn't really matter.
It's just odd that they chose this look.
The Controls
The controls are a little difficult to get used to, but it's only an adjustment.
Conclusion
Make sure to follow up on my next article here going more in depth about the story, characters and overall coverage of this game as I explore it more.
I'm really enjoying it, for what it has to offer and I think you would too, regardless  if you are a Spider-Man fan or never played a Spider-Man game before.
My initial thoughts on this game come to a close with the caveat that, while others may disagree, that is what makes gamers unique. You don't have to share their interests or agree with them and are welcome to critic me on mine.
