Storm Island Review - an Island of Deception

Translate
Storm Island is a multiplayer asymmetrical survival game that challenges eight players to control eight survivors stranded on a deserted island.
Editors from TapTap reviewed this game for you and you can watch the video below!
Storm Island is a game that incorporates the gameplay of Werewolf (board game). This is a genre that players who have played Project Winter might be familiar with. But compared with that, Storm Island has simpler gameplay and is easier for new players to get started.
The game mechanics can be confusing at first, but after playing a few rounds following the survival instructions on the main interface, you will be able to get a better understanding of how the game works.
【Gameplay】
The game will be divided into two sides: the Survivors and the Lost. The Survivors need to complete the repair of the ship within a limited-time to escape the deserted island. On the other hand, the Lost needs to prevent the player from escaping, messing them up.
As the game progresses, various items will appear, some of which are beneficial to the survivor and others are for the Lost. Survivors will need to determine the identity of the Lost Ones based on their behavior and expel them. And for the sake of balance, only one item can be carried at most.
【Pros & Cons】
✔︎ If you are a voice chat lover...
In Werewolf the board game, voice chat is essential. Both sides have to make changes in strategy through their behavior and voice interactions. An excellent player is good enough to confuse others with their eloquence. The same is true in Storm Island. If you're a player who doesn't like voice chat, the game is half the fun.
Vague background story...
The beginner's guide is relatively simple, mechanically introducing the rules of the two sides, with no designed plot to wrap up the introduction or convey the fun of the game's fun, which can only be gained by the player's own fumbling around.
In some good asymmetrical survival games, the beginner’s guide is designed to be presented to the player as a combination of instruction and background story to provide a better immersive experience and increase the player's acceptance of the guide. For instance, as in the cartoon style of Identity V, the connection between the different characters is introduced, as well as the background story.
However, the background explanation of the game's story is vague and doesn't tell the ins and outs of the two sides.
Overall, the gameplay is relatively innovative. But it has a number of flaws. The Survivor's requirement for teamwork will be high; as long as one player is uncooperative and passive-aggressive, it will affect everyone else's game experience.
At the same time, the gameplay is not rich enough, lacking stage by stage changes. There are only two opposing sides, so if there is a lack of more variables to play with later, it may be hard to keep up in the long run.
