Origami Paradise is a cute idle game but offers nothing new...

Origami Paradise is an idle game where you build up an island full of habitats with cute animals in the form of origami. You collect coins passively from creating and upgrading the habitats and populating your island with different animals. The game shines when it comes to graphics and customization. The game lets you completely customize decorations and your origami animals. You can change the colors, draw designs on them and even put different stickers on them. The animations that occur when you buy a new animal are visually pleasing. The animations show the animal forming from a piece of paper and folding into an origami figure.
The problem is the core gameplay gets stale after about 10 minutes. All you really do is wait for coins to generate until you have enough to upgrade something or just duplicate another animal you already have. The only real fun you face during this gameplay is when you have enough coins to unlock a new island and expand your territory. By doing this you then get access to new origami animals and new animations. The audio was pretty boring as well with just 1 music track on loop. After the 3rd time hearing it looped you want to turn off the sound entirely.
The game plays in a vertical format which fits the playstyle. Regardless I am still not a fan of the vertical aspect for games. Monetization in this game is done in a typical way for these types of idle games. The cash shop offers you a variety of packs and ways to speed up your progress. It offers things like increased coins generated over time. You don't need to spend any money to enjoy the game, nor do you get anything special that makes you want to spend. Overall, it is a cute idle game that casual gamers will enjoy. The niche here is the origami art style so the main target audience is those that are fans of origami.
