Why I like it hardcore - Call of Duty Hardcore mode is back

Yes, that's right. Recently, Activision announced the path to season 2, and with the new Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II and Warzone 2.0 update, hardcore mode is back!

For those unfamiliar with what it means to get "hardcore," as the name suggests, it's an additional gameplay mode that ups the difficulty and makes it more skill-based. Players receive less health, and friendly fire are just a few examples. Practically every gun kills in one or two hits. It's designed to mirror the real world and is only meant for those who want to test their skills. And you know what? I'm thrilled this mode is back.

As mentioned in my call of duty review, I thought the TTK (time to kill) in Warzone was a little too high, but now that we have a mode specifically designed with high TTK encounters, maybe this will balance out other game modes. Additionally, these matches will be faster and more concise, which was another complaint I had about Warzone 2.0.

Of course, everyone isn't thrilled about season 2, which will include a complete seasonal wipe. The wipe will consist of a reset on the current Faction mission tier progress, removal of all Contraband weapons and keys from player inventory, and introduce brand-new Faction missions, maps, and weapons. Out with the old and in with the new!

Season 2 will release on February 15th, just in time for Valentine's day. Make it a date night! The couple that plays together stays together. What's more hardcore than that?
