HoYoverse Plans to Make a Genshin Impact Movie, Regardless of Profit and Loss

Huxiu, a Chinese technology- and innovation-focused information platform, recently published a report on HoYoverse's estimated annual revenue and its upcoming year plan.
According to the report, HoYoverse has made roughly 20-25 billion CNY (3.84-4.43 billion USD) in FY2022. In addition, the report claimed that HoYoverse is planning to invest 20%-30% of its annual budget to make a spin-off movie, regardless of the profit or loss at the box office.
As for the estimated revenue, HoYoverse has chosen to leave no comment as it always has. However, according to the past few years' inclining revenue trends, the estimated numbers from Huxiu are proven to be reasonable.
Nevertheless, "throwing 20%-30% of its annual budget to a movie project" still seems to be an out-of-nowhere move for HoYoverse - though it can be traced back to an early-year conference HoYoverse held at Shanghai Jiaotong University in 2019.
                                                  Honkai's roadmap in 2019
According to the slides back in 2019, HoYoverse originally planned to launch a Honkai animated movie in August 2019, with more Honkai-related events to follow up. All these plans were later "jeopardized" by the launch of Genshin Impact - a world-trending game proven to be a huge success in all aspects.
In conclusion, HoYoverse making a movie is most likely a “dream come true", especially when you take HoYoverse's statement of "regardless of profit or loss" into account.
Let's wait and see.
