Mir M is trash!
I’m gonna be trashing the game quite a bit, but I’ll go through some of the positives before I do.
First off, the graphics are really well done, especially for a mobile based MMORPG. I do like the visuals of games like GoC and OOP better but Mir M is not bad. The game also has a lot of content, like a LOT, and it’s all done really well. It’s not too difficult to understand but it has a lot of depth which gives a lot of room for players to dig deep into the game.
Let me tell you!
The content is great but 90% of it is not accessible without dropping like at least 10k USD into the game. I’m not really against micro transaction in games or anything, I understand that developers need to make money! Some of my favorite games are p2w games, but they need to be done well. P2W games need to have a balance where the super whales don’t just one shot everyone else. This is not just for the free to play players to have fun, it also ensures the Whales have fun as well. Mir M does not go by that logic at all. Instead, Mir M uses the play 2 earn mechanic to keep a bunch of developing country users engaged into the game to fake a “lively” server. These users are all only doing one thing, and that’s mine darksteel. They are non interactive and only take up resources to make it harder for actual gamers to progress in the game. You’ll notice this when you try to finish certain hunting quests and it takes you hours to complete because there’s 2000 players farming those monsters for their drops.
My next big gripe with the game is that it’s way too expensive. I’ve topped up about 1k usd in the game and honestly still feel like a free to play player in terms of content and power level. Players will need to spend at least 5-6k to feel remotely involved in the game and I can’t imagine how much the top ranking players have been spending.
I’ll be the first to admit, I can’t afford that type of gaming and I’m a little jealous. But at the same time, I find it quite ridiculous to have to spend that much money in a game just to have fun. What happened to games like starcraft or super smash brothers where I can just pay a flat fee to have countless hours of fun! Or like World of War Craft, New World, and OOP if we are taking about MMORPGs. Again, totally fine with p2w games and micro transaction, but this is overboard.
Last big issue is this blockchain element. Overall, I actually support Blockchain and gaming. I’m not sure how they belong together but I do believe there’s some value that can be added. Whatever whatever the F’ck Mir M did is not it. First off, the bc element is convoluted as hell. You have to learn to use crypto currencies, transfer crypto between three different wallets, exchange between at least four different exchanges, and pay a bunch of fees just to get involved in that part of the game. That’s already kinda stupid, but the main issue is that the developers are taking advantage of users from developing countries and providing them with an unsustainable source of income. Like a ton of Brazilians are just playing the game everyday just to mine and sell stuff for real money. There’s guides online that explain how full time miners can make about 200 usd a month by mining in the game. That’s not a insignificant amount of money for a lot of people and there’s even users that made this into their job. It’s an unsustainable and highly volatile source of income which the Mir M team has tricked a bunch of poor souls into to keep the game feeling lively.
So yeah, overall not a big fan of the game, but curious to hear your thoughts. What does everyone else think?
