Iron Marines PROS and CONS. Is it Good?

Iron Marines have that Kingdom Rush feel to it, but its actually a full scaped RTS. Lets see if the new Ironhide Game Studio game lives up to the high standards.

In this article we will talk about both good and bad sides of Iron Marines so you can decide if this is the right game for you.

PROS

1. Proper RTS on the Mobile

This is as close as you can get to the actual PC RTS game on the mobile as you can, because of controls. You can build buildings, recruit troops, gather resources. There are special abilities on units and there are counters to those too. You will have to micro your troops sometimes to prevent their early demise.

2. Crazy amount of units

And its both their quality and quantity. There are multiple types of enemies, and each of them have their unique features. Sometimes they come in numbers. As you move to the new planet, you will face totally new unit set, so game wont let you get bored.

3. A lot of content

Iron Marines have 3 planets, 21 missions in total. Moreover you can go for a harder difficulty and do the special harder missions too. Achievement set, that also give you ingame rewards and fun easter eggs all around.

CONS

1. Hero system

Heroes require levels to be useful. If you go into late game and pick new lvl 1 hero most likely you will get bored with it and feel that it lacks in comparison with lvl 10 one. You only get exp after you complete level, and leveling heroes is a slow process.

2. Lack of progression.

Yes, there is a skilltree for your troops upgrade and hero levels, but outside of that, there is nothing else to do to progress. Most equipment you use is one-time thing, so you will just have to farm or buy more gold to get more of those consumables.

3. Controls

Even though they are good for the mobile, they are still hard for a proper RTS game. I miss control groups, so with one click I can select the unit group, with 2 clicks move my camera to them. Follow orders, when units will follow specific units, and attack anything they see and such. It can cause minor annoyances.

Verdict. Is Iron Marines Good?

Yes!

Even with all those drawbacks, Idle Marines is one of the best RTS games on the mobile devices. Moreover most of those negatives are either personal or dont influence your gameplay that much. Most important is the fact that when I play the game I enjoy it a lot, and I want to play more.
