Fortnite mobile gameplay (finally)
Good evening or morning or afternoon ladies and gentlemen the long awaited fortnite mobile gameplay is here.
So sorry for the long wait had some things going on but I'm finally back.
So there isn't much I can say about the game that you haven't heard from other players or content creators but fortnite is as fun as its ever been. The game is pretty well optimized for mobile and plays very smoothly (I play on low graphics for fps) and it is truly smooth with a bit of a frame free every now and then. Sadly I am not good at the mobile version of this game so the gameplay above isn't that great but I just wanted to show you guys the game so you know what you're getting into if you'd like to download it.
Now don't hate on me too much but fortnite wasn't always a game I was interest in until zero builds was introduced, reason being the battle royales I played were the realistic ones like call of duty and pubg so I wasn't a fan of a semi animated looming game but I will admit it's fun.
Gameplay.
Fortnite mobile has every single feature that the console and pc versions has except for Save The World and Creative 2.0 obviously but every other game mode, creative game mode, skins, emotes and shop items etc are on the mobile version and the best part is your data can be passed across platforms. For those who don't know what this means it mean that whatever you buy or earn in the mobile, pc or console port of the game is available on each platform by simply logging into you epic games account which is very nice (a big bow to epic for that).
Now I have mentioned in a previous post that we got creative 2.0 game modes on mobile however I have run into an issue with loading textures in the 2.0 maps and I am not sure if it's because my device is limited or if it's just not yet optimized entirely for mobile but in the pirate island mode there are bushes that do not render in entirely and has the build mode blue and white marker on them, the game water does not render in so you just swim in nothingness lol and some treasure spots cannot be broken so there are limits to the mode for mobile however we do still get to play it. Every other precious creative mode and modes created by epic games play smoothly it is only the creative 2.0 modes that struggle abit.
I only play zero builds mode however building on mobile is much easier than on console as each button is on screen and separate and it has a quick build button, so if you tap quick build it immediately build the last ramp or wall you built without having to tap the actual button which is cool for when you suddenly get attacked by a rat.
Controls.
The controls work perfectly and are not too much over the screen however when you first jumpninto the game I would recommend going to your setting and moving buttons around because the default layout is abit awkward and seem to have been made for tablets/ iPad in mind so you'll need to tinker abit there. There is a good amount of settings for the controls, love the grid setting which allows you to move your controls bit by bit.
I have had no issue with any button besides the movement button, it works fine however you'll see in the video above I'll randomly start walking or just not moving and that's because the joystick is like a type of floating stick and it cannot be turned off so you literally have to depend on screen rotation to keep you movement up when turning just doing you thing or you can depend on the autorun which can be enabled in setting and by double tapping the joystick ( I recommend jumping before double tapping it so you don't stand still while enabling it).
Second issue I've had is sensitivity, for some reason when I slide my finger left or right my character does a full 180 turn around, I have tried lowering sense and acceleration but it has not helped but luckily I am a gyro player so it is somewhat better so for those who don't play gyro you might need to learn or watch a YouTube tutorial on how to fix this or lower its sense.
Graphics.
Now you know I don't play games on high graphics as I prioritize frames but fortnite is one of those games that just looks better on high frames especially because you can literally see the difference in graphics unlike in other mobile games. Now there is this setting call HD texture downloads which if turned on it does one type of download in and out of game to render graphics better in a match but to me it feels as if it causes the game to be choppy and it heats up your phone. Alpt of content creators recommend turning thi off and so do I because it doesn't really help and it's not noticeable.
Also there is sadly NO brightness setting which socks because fortnite has somehow gotten darker over the years of updates and using phone brightness doesn't really help with this really because all it does is make the screen bright and it doesn't really effect the game itself so burn your eyes but you still won't get the good brightness.
Guns.
There are a good variety of weapons to use in battle royale but if you really want to get the goody goods look for the undaunted game modes in creative because that's where you'll get to use most of the guns the game has had.
Currently in BR there a I believe three shotguns, two AR rifles, a semi automatic rifle like the dragonuv, a bolt action like the .50cal, a mp5 looking smg, a full auto pistol and an egg launcher???? This is a grenade launcher that shoots eggs instead its pretty funny in some way. Now I'm not a shotgun fan but I know fortnite is all about shotguns so the combat shotgun can be used for decently fast shooting, there's a type of slow auto firing shotgun which can be used at close range by holding the shoot button down and a semi auto shotgun (I forgot their names) now I'd recommend the combat for mid range shot, and the two others for close range battle and oo there also this sniper the shotgun I used in the video above that's pretty cool.
The smg and pistol are great but the pistol is abit better due to reload speed and the smg is good for te good old shotgun to smg combo to get that fast kill. The dragon is type sniper is great for mid range battle to skim away at a enemy players health and shield and the .50cal is good for just obliterating oppents especially if you have the double shot mod on which adds one extra round in the mag. The AR rifles are decent but I'd recommend the basic third person view on of the red eye aim down sights one because fortnite haven't realy gotten their ADS optimizing done right in game yet.
Personally I do not like the snipers and ads AR guns in fornite due to the fact that I'm used to pubg and cod and every other shooters ads feature working realistically whereas fortnites seems very off, I can't truly explain it but if you play you know what I mean. I especially hate the snipers because of the odd bullet delay like I get they tried to add the realistic feature of bullet delay but they made it like 3 seconds slower so I someone is aiming at you (and if done this on console) simply jump when you see the muzzle flash and if they are aiming chest to tummy height the bullet will go under you and if they aiming head height it'll hit your tummy or leg so you won't go down. The bullet is pretty delayed do its not great for quick scopes on moving targets unless they k9vjng directly to you like in the video above so I'm not a fan of the ads and snipers.
Now finally fortnite holds the record or some record for having the most diverse skins in gaming history. As you know ever day the shop updates with new skins and emotes and music and bags or pickaxe so there is alot you can get and alot of pretty cool and badass looking skins however micro- transactions is a thing ever since elder scrolls oblivion so you have to spend a good amount of money to get these skins and there is no other way to earn them besides the battle pass so there really isn't much to grind towards besides getting a win in BR or reaching the final level on a battle pass which epic made up for with creative. Now these skins are amazingly designed and I love that they added the black outline on cartoon and anime skins which gives you that animated feel to them which is amazing. Their emotes are amazingly designed as well with what I believe is those cgi body tracking thinga majik so they have actual people do the dance then record it onto the games so it has the smoothness and fluency of a live person which is cool.
We got some amazing gliders, pickaxe and bags and some of them are animated as well so they do little thing in game that makes gliding, running around and breaking objects abit more interesting (been seeing alot of videos of this guy in a venom suit with a skeleton panda backpack that head pops and it's pretty funn) so you know I really appreciate these little features that add more energy to the game.
All in all great and very interesting game that can be abit better optimized for mobile in my opinion but it is very enjoyable and I recommend it to people who have phones compatible with it (sorry Apple users).
