I See You - Be blind for a day.
I See You is a 1-bit survival horror game that where you play as Sean, a blind person who wants to meet his girlfriend, soon to be fiance, Liz.
At the start, Sean is on a train. By the time his stop comes, he tells us that he is about to visit his girlfriend who loves him a lot.
I fell in love with the dialogue as soon as he said "I can't wait to 'see' her." It was the start of feeling how a blind person views life. There is more in store for us when Sean reaches Liz's home.
When you explore her house, everything is monchrome. All you can see are the door edges and hear some sounds.
You follow the sound of the shower thinking that Liz will be there, but she isn't. The telephone rings and it's Liz but her words are distorted. And exploring some more, you pick up a pistol from the bathroom sink.
The security guard rings the doorbell and when we open the door, he makes us hear a roar coming from his tape recorder. At that time, I thought he wants Sean to get out of the house by scaring him with that artificial sound. And then loot the place.
But I was in for a surprise. After closing the door and exploring a bit more, we hear the same roar again paired with red particles. For the first time, there is a third color in the house.
The telephone rings and it's with her distorted words. AGAIN. But few words are clear 'Get out of the house' and her computer password.
When you are on the way to the computer room on the terrace, for the first time those red particles coupled with that roar take a shape of a tall creature. His red footsteps follow you. What is it? Is it from our planet or somewhere else? We can see that it's a creature but Sean can't. The tension you feel in that moment is out of this world(pun intended).
You shoot and it bleeds green. Another color in the mix. We run towards the computer room on the terrace, it doesn't follow us. As soon as we enter the password, it appears again and we have little room to escape.
I ran towards the garage in the opposite direction. Our car needs a charged battery and we come across the workshop which is beside the garage. Here, you can make stuff by combining the components you collected throughout the house. It also has a Braille Typewriter to save our progress. Cool checkpoint, I must say.
After charging the battery and putting it in the car, we open the garage gate to escape. But to nobody's surprise, the monster has again followed us to the garage. It breaks the car which seems like the final nail in the coffin. The tension in the air is otherworldly, we shoot at it but run out of ammo. It kills Sean and the checkpoint brings us back at the Workshop.
We go to the workshop with all the gunpowder, first aid, etc. we have collected to battle the monster again.
I have felt this thrill and excitement after a long time in mobile games. The music is good, but aiming can be better. Collecting parts of Liz's portrait and then reminiscing them playing piano was charming. Playing Snake on the Gameboy as Sean was wacky. All in all, a great game that everyone should try.
