Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak took the top prize at the Japan Game Awards
This Thursday, the 2023 Japan Game Awards officially announced the results, with Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak winning the Game of the Year award.
Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak is an expansion for Capcom's action role-playing game, Monster Hunter Rise, and it was released on June 30, 2022, for the Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam. The expansion tells the story of hunters who once saved a village from calamity and are now challenged to rescue a kingdom in crisis from the elder dragon "Valstrax" in a new world.
In addition to the Game of the Year award, 11 other games received the Award for Excellence, including titles like God of War Ragnarök, Hogwarts Legacy, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, Resident Evil 4, Sonic Frontiers, and Xenoblade Chronicles 3.
