Why not start 2024 like it's 1994 with this great-looking SNES-style retro RPG?

Another January means another new year. The future's great and all, but do you ever wish that you could step back into the past? Well, we can't help with that, but we can recommend a game that might just give you that warm and fuzzy feeling you felt popping a new RPG cartridge into your Super Nintendo!
Crystal Story: Dawn of Dusk is a new retro RPG launching on PC next week. Created by solo indie developer Fred Brown, it's intended to be the beginning of a series. But as you can probably guess from watching that trailer, this game is heavily inspired by classic RPGs of the SNES and Game Boy era, such as Final Fantasy VI and The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening.
While Crystal Story seems set to appeal to our nostalgia, it's not just nostalgia. The game also promises plenty of post-game content, and the developer is planning to provide free updates with even more sidequests, areas to explore, and more. It sounds awesome if it can pull it all off.
We'll find out soon enough if that's the case. Crystal Story: Dawn of Dusk is launching on PC on January 12, 2024. Watch for a quick review from one of TapTap's editors closer to that launch date.
