Endless Nightmare Review—A Popular Entertainment Turned into Something Spine-Chilling

Just 5 more days before Halloween descends from the darkness and graces us with its presence.
So, what better way to embrace the spooky season than by scaring yourself half to death? However, it may be a long time before I’m able to participate in anything creepy IRL with the world the way it is today.
At the very least, 707 Interactive’s Endless Nightmare is here to give us a bone-chillingly scary world to explore, notwithstanding the fact that it is a tad inundated with the supernatural.
Not wanting to delve into the game alone, I couldn’t help but drag a mate of mine into joining me in this ordeal. So, if you ever manage to embark on this venture alone, I’ve got to take my hat off to you since you’re definitely much braver than I will ever be… 😥
What I found most petrifying about Endless Nightmare is its simple escape-room-esque concept, which I reckon may evoke a familiar sense of foreboding within some folks. Since escape rooms are so prevalent nowadays, playing a game set in a horror-themed escape room with deadly supernatural occurrences may not be too agreeable for some who feel that the game hits too close to home (for instance, yours truly).
Plunging into the world of endless nightmares, you’ll soon wake up to find yourself as James, a police officer who’s out on a mission to investigate the brutal deaths of his wife and daughter in your own house.
Before long, you’ll notice that you are not the only one in the house (Cues the dramatic music!).
With a sharp knife in her hand, a crazed deceased lady is seen roaming around, seeking vengeance on whoever is in the house.She may just appear around the corner or when you least expect it, keeping the tension high and providing jump scares aplenty. As my terror mounted with every step, I am somehow forced into a bloodcurdling game of cat and mouse.
As ‘fun’ as that sounds, just be prepared to hide... a lot.
On a different note, Endless Nightmare, much like other games, isn’t without its faults. However, they feel more like rough edges than any significant issues. For instance, there are occasions when I’m trying to manoeuvre the doors to rooms or cupboards to hide from the lady. However, I’d just be tapping the screen frantically, but to avail.
Now that I have gone through this game, it dawns on me that Endless Nightmare has me withstand a well-written yet spine-chilling narrative myself. On top of that, it also puts my abilities to the test through the mental task of collecting clues to figure out what had happened to James’ family.
At this rate, I can just foresee myself leaving the lights on when I head to bed later tonight. 😫
