A Complete Rune Set Up Guide for Supports (Both Mage/Tanky supports) by Glaceox Gaming

There's been a lot of discussion between what runes are good and a lot of suggestions for a guide on them, so here it is.
Tank supports: (Braum, Alistar, Blitzcrank, and maybe Gragas)
◦ Keystone:
Always take Aftershock for tankiness when you engage + the extra damage also helps out a lot! This is unless you're playing Braum, in which case your ult can easily hit the entire enemy team and apply the Font of Life buff.
◦ Domination/2nd rune:
Take Weakness because tank supports usually have a high amount of cc and a 5% damage increase is no joke! This will help out A LOT in getting kills.
◦ Resolve/3rd rune:
Take Spirit Walker if you plan to fight very early on (level 1/2/3/4), as 50HP is an insane amount of extra base HP (about 1 auto-attack). If not, just take loyalty as the standard rune choice to give your carry extra defensive stats. Or take regeneration vs pesky poke supports that won't stop poking you even if you beg them to.
◦ Inspiration/4th rune:
Take Path Finder if you intend to roam a lot (Which you should), but if you prefer to not roam as much, and play a more lane oriented playstyle (Kill them 2v2) you can take Pack Hunter. It will give you extra movement speed and give each unique ally and yourself extra 50 gold when you kill an enemy.
Mage Supports: (Sona, Seraphine, Janna, Soraka, Nami, and Lux)
◦ Keystone:
Just take Aery as a standard choice (it does extra damage when you hit an enemy, and gives an extra shield when you buff allies!). If you won't be poking early, there is also Font of Life which applies a really good buff, especially at later stages of the game where you can land multi-man cc spells like Nami's ult or Soraka's first skill (Bad on Sona because she can only apply it with her ult). There is also a cheese rune for Lux to take vs Blitzcrank, taking Aftershock and snaring him to get the tanky stats so that you won't die when you get hooked.
◦ Domination/2nd rune:
Take Weakness unless your champion can't easily apply slows/cc (like Sona). In that case, just take gathering storm and receive the free stats as the game goes on :D
◦ Resolve/3rd rune:
Loyalty is the standard rune because it gives both your carry and yourself defensive stats. You can also take Regeneration if your lane allows you to poke and spam a lot more spells in the early game (like Lux vs Braum).
◦ Inspiration/4th rune:
Generally, you always want to take Manaflow Band for the extra mana, which is very important on Mage supports. If not, you can just take Pack Hunter for extra gold and movement speed, or Path Finder if you intend to roam a lot.
