MoreIn Roller Drama, you (Joan) live with & coach five top athletes: Anne, Portia, Lily, Cordelia, and Juliet. Together they form a top Roller Derby team, a full contact sport on quad skates! Your job is to act as a keeper of the team, managing both their personal and professional lives. Try to balance everyone’s emotions as they navigate rivalries, friendships, and love. Roller Drama is set in a dystopian alternative world where things are going… slightly worse than they are here. Political and environmental upheavals interfere with daily life. [*] Interactive narrative with meaningful choices (almost 100!) and multiple endings [*] Vivid, explorable universe [*] Replayable narrative and matches: every championship is unique, several different endings [*] Replay a specific chapter [*] Real-time roller derby matches [*] Coach a team of five athletes with wildly different personalities [*] Hand drawn character art by award winning illustrator Vic Macioci [*] Play with controller or mouse + keyboard [*] Cloud saves While personal dramas rage on, you’ll also need to manage Roller Derby matches in real time! Plan strategies, give orders, and manage the match using arcade-inspired controls.

We are looking at a well-polished game
and I know there aren't that many roller derby games besides the one I know called Rollerdome
But this one takes a visual novel and strategic mechanics into it, which makes it interesting.
The game we are looking at today is called Roller Drama.
Summary:
Lead a team of Roller Derby athletes using strategy and real-time controls: sport action on skates and an interactive story, grappling with friendship and heartbreak!

PLAY IT OR SKIP IT?
Play it if you want to experience a unique take on roller derby, but skip it if you’re hoping for a mechanically sound sports experience. I’ve personally never played a game of roller derby. So of course, I wanted to take my shot at managing an all-female team of angsty athletes. Roller Drama is part-visual novel and part-real-time strategy. Seeing as most sports games don’t have the strongest narrative. It’s quite an ambitious undertaking. Although that narrative pulled me in, the confusing and clunky game mechanics took me out of the experience.
