OP :Adventure of Pirates Looks Beautiful, But Needs More Work

One Piece already has a ton of games, especially on mobile, and it can be mind numbing to choose which one to play. And honestly, I just picked Adventure of Pirates because I thought it looked really good. It's also an anime-based mobile RPG with gacha elements, but does it stand out?

[b]The Good:

[/b]Like many anime gacha RPGs, One Piece: Adventure of Pirates it features well known anime characters, both heroes and villains, and players go on missions, try and get characters they want through the gacha system, level up these characters through missions, and make them stronger with items and materials. Basically it's just like any other anime gacha RPG. 

However, the game is beautiful, and has wonderful graphics. And for a game that looks this good, it's quite surprising that it's not heavy on the memory and graphics. 

The gameplay is fun, but sort of feels by the numbers. Its main draw is that you get to mix and match characters who normally won't team up together, and you can indeed do that. It also recreates some very famous battles, which is definitely a plus for One Piece fans.

As I said, it feels rather by the numbers. I mean, I've been playing a lot of these anime gacha RPGs, and this one really feels the same as many of them... just with One Piece characters. 

And while I initially had fun, it grew stale after a few days. Its pay-to-win mechanics started showing up a a short bit into the game too. Sure, you can always grind things out, but that is gonna time, and it will get frustrating at times. And then, as time goes on, playing the missions will become more of a chore.

The game does have freebies and daily bonuses to get people to continue playing, but sometimes, these will not get people interested enough to continue on.

The game also needs to improve on a lot of things, including the PVP arena (which is actually fun all things considered) and its gacha system, which honestly feels rather flat. It has an OK roster depth, but it could be better. 

I have also read some reports that it suffers from connectivity issues, even with a strong signal. However, I myself have not encountered this problem yet. Maybe others have encountered this a lot, but for me, not yet.

When I started the game, it was fun. It actually looks good and I enjoyed the PVP Arena, even if I felt it lacks some minor tweaks to make it better. And having played so much gacha RPG at this point, this game feels lacking, and very much by the numbers. But if you're a die-hard One Piece fan that has been following the series for almost two decades now, then this one is definitely for you!
