Squid Game 3D is Actually A Fun Game if you Don't Mind the Graphics
Since Squid Game first streamed on Netflix, a ton of Squid Game mobile games have actually popped up, and I decided to try one of them. I ended up somehow with Squid Game 3D as I picked it randomly. Well, it looks like I got lucky with my pick because I seriously had fun with this one.
The Good:
Squid Game 3D recreates some of the Korean playground games from the hit Netflix series. If you're a fan of the series as I am, then this one might be for you.
Players start off with ddakji, which was featured as the recruitment game in the show. It's fairly simple, and you really have to properly aim and apply the right amount of force in order to flip it. I cleared this stage pretty early, on my second try, so I felt this was the most simple and mediocre. But as we get into the actual games, they became a lot more stressful. You really have to pay attention to the changing lights for Red Light Green Light, and be really careful for the Dalgona candy challenge.
Things also get pretty brutal, especially with Red Light, Green Light and the marble game. In the show, they did not show the old man getting "shot." Here though, when you beat an old man in the marble game, he gets shot right in front of you.
The game really tries to adhere with the events of the show, including what happens to you when you die. The game over screen is just features two of the pink minions placing your "gift" casket into a furnace.
The Bad:
While I did have fun with the game, my one complaint is that the characters look rather awkward. Their sprites just look silly, and I felt that the graphics were just bad. However, I felt that they got away with this because it is still a mobile game, not a PC or console game.
Final Verdict:
If you can look past the bad graphics, then this game is a good one. I had fun, though I did find the first game, ddakji, to be a bit mediocre. I have not finished the game yet, though I will admit that I was having fun so far. I even ignored how awkward the visuals looked. If you're a fan of the Netflix series, definitely check this one out. Remember, it's the one with 3D at the end of its name, so you won't confuse it with the plethora of other Squid Game titles that have popped up. However, now that I think about it, those other ones may be fun too.
