The original Farmville wasn't just a farming simulator, it was THE farming simulator. It was a game that changed the landscape of gaming, literally, with its use of microtransactions paving the way to what we have now. Yes, it was better before Farmville came along and made companies realize that microtransactions can make them more money.
But now, taking a look at this latest iteration, I could say that they have very much improved from the first game. It looks much better, with some new additions. But these do not change the overall feel of the game, as it still feels like the first Farmville but with improvements in graphics.
And it does not feel pay-to-win too! Yes, Farmville helped paved the way for games to be pay-to-win, but in essence, the microtransactions are still very much optional for me. If you managed your farm right, then there's no need to worry about buying more stuff with real-world money.
In the end, Farmville 3 takes me back to the original game, and the nostalgia is very much welcomed.
