UPDATE 08MAY Now that I know what I do like about the game, a few words about what I don't like. Although we're given a mount very early on, navigating the terrain is a huge pain in the ass. With an area this large, it seems to me to be a great candidate for auto travel to the quests. Instead, when clicking on the quest in the list, were given a tiny mileage icon with an even tinier arrow that "sort of" points us in the right direction. The
terrain is very mountainous, and more often than not, we're pointed directly at them. Mountain climbing is horrible, and falling to your death is a normal occurrence. We're also given a jet pack that kind of works, but all in all, it's a very frustrating experience. I'm hoping that this will be optimized before release. I'm still loving the game and having a good time.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ± UPDATE 24APR I wanted to wait a few days of eavy play so I could review the game fairly. Oktight lol. I'm hooked :) As my understanding of the sometimes overly complicated game systems increased, so edid my likinyg of the game . There is SO much going on in game that some of it is entirely missed at first. I can say with a great deal of likelihood that casual MMO players won't stick around long enough to find them all. There's the main story quest, and many subquets and dailies. then there are a large assortment of other quests such as bounties, explorations, food tasting, FdEx, and rescues. There are also a variety of other quests I'm still figuring out
Let's talk about combat. it's BOMB! NO auto combat that you have to toggle off for each fight. The dodge/evade mechanics are very good, making kiting very doable .There are also several different summoning systems for weaponry. Not only is there the typical upgrading options, there's also a Simulacrum system that allows you to find an attach "mercs"--for want of a better word--which you affix to your main for good stat bonuses. if that's not quite complicated enough for you, there's also a Matrix system that further allows you to find, develop, and affix more and better upgrades. Sound complicated? Good. Because it is lol. My toon has 3 or 4 SSR simulacra with SSR weapons that are insanely powerful, and if you equip 2 more weapons of the same type--fire, ice, thunder, poison etc--the combos are seriously good. Big ups to the combat in spite of the complexity.
As for the dungeons, there are zillions of them, both solo and group, that range in difficulty from moderate to very difficult. They are packed with puzzle elements required to finish them. I am working on 2 solo dungeons where I've killed the final bosses but haven't yet worked out the puzzle component, so they remain incomplete.
The graphics are interesting, and won't be what you expect. there's a mixture of intense vector graphics combined with sprites that make them appealing. The soundscaping is very appealing to me as well.
Overalls:
Graphics: 🌟🌟🌟🌟
Sound: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Combat: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Character Control: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Questing: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 (yes, 6 stars)
PvP: unknown to me yet, but I'm told it's excellent
if this is what they've produced as a beta product, I expect the gold version will be stellar. There's a full length player review section that I've filled out several times as they make or ignore game improvement possibilities .A word about the World Chat feature is worth mentioning, only because the players are interested in playing the game without being obnoxious trolls. it's very refreshing. Do I recommend the game? Absolutely, but be prepared for a healthy learning curve. Well done, devs!!!
