Turning Vampire Survivors into a full open-world RPG is a damn good formula

I was pulled into Rumble Heroes by its colorful cartoon look, but I've been obsessed with it for over a week now because the core gameplay is just extremely satisfying and addictive.
The core of Rumble Heroes's mechanics seems to be inspired by auto-attack games like Vampire Survivors. I gathered together a small team of heroes, and whenever I got near enemies, they would automatically attack them, earning experience for my account to level up and meat that I could feed to the heroes to power them up.
Rumble Heroes isn't just about combat, though. I was also able to direct my party towards chopping down trees and mining diamonds. I discovered a town and could begin putting these resources towards building up the town, spending wood on new buildings and diamonds on permanent passive buffs to all my characters. And I could use gold earned from dungeon runs or completing quests to recruit new heroes to my cause.
The light gacha system in Rumble Heroes might turn some players off, as it makes targeting specific recruits annoying, but I didn't mind since the game gave me plenty of money at a good rate. The real joy of it all, though, is slowly exploring this world and grinding to pool up the resources to unlock and venture into new areas. Boss fights actually require a bit of strategy, and even after over a dozen hours of play, I feel like I'm barely scratching the surface.
This one is definitely worth checking out if you dig Vampire Survivors-style games or grindy RPGs and exploration!
