[Beginner's Guide] Recommended Basic Builds

As a newcomer to Torchlight: Infinite, you may be confused about the choices of skills and the matches of talents... Don't worry. The Crow will guide you through the beginner phase!
As the veterans in this game, we are presenting you some builds great for beginners. Do remember that none of the builds are absolutely perfect. Only you can create the most suitable build of your own! Before fully understanding how to create a build, you may as well try some of our recommendations.
Berserker Rehan
Strategy: The initial Focused Slash is fairy unhandy during the early game when its attack area is small and attack speed too slow. When you have defeated the Agito on the High Tower and returned to the Hideout at around Lv.5, Liv will gift the Hammer of Ash skill to you. Hammer of Ash can be combined with Ignition ailment to split lava fractures that attack distant enemies, compensating Berserker's shorter reach.
- Truestrike: "Hammer of Ash" deals Truestrike when causing Ignition. Truestrike generates extra Lava Ground and shoots more lava fractures.
- Hardened: Originally a mechanism for survival that reduces received DMG. Core Talent Perfect Guard increases Hardened's triggering chance. It also increases Attack Damage under Hardened status by 40%.
Skill Combo: Hammer of Ash (Obtained in Main Quest at Lv.5) + Melee Physical Damage (Obtained by default in Main Quest) + Added Fire Damage (Unlocked at Lv.7) + Steamroll (Unlocked at Lv.7) + Thrill (Unlocked at Lv.22) + Fire Explosion (Unlocked at Lv.22)
Hero Trait: Anger (Lv.16) + Frenzy Furious (Lv.32) + Rampaging (Lv.48) + Boiling Anger (Lv.66)
Talent: God of Might (Perfect Guard + Elimination), The Brave (Incineration + Incinerate), Talent Nodes Priority: Melee Damage, Attack Damage, Fire Damage, Critical Strike Rating Ignite Damage and Hardened related.
Frostfire Gemma
Strategy: The initial Split Firebolt is a useful skill. When combined with Surge mechanism and Ignition Ailment Damage, the firebolts can deal some serious damage.
- Surge: Basic duration 4 seconds. It provides 35% extra Spell Damage and 200% Mana Restoration Speed at Lv.20. Core Talents Pulsing Guard and Torrents can upgrade Surge and maintain Surge status.
- Ignite: There is a chance to cause Ignition when hitting the target with Fire Damage. Ignition deals Persistent Damage and Ailment Damage. Enhanced Ailment and Fire Explosion skills can enhance Ignition's damage.
Skill Combo: Split Firebolt (Owned by default) + Fire Explosion (Unlocked at Lv.7) + Wind Projectiles (Unlocked at Lv.25) + Fire Piercing (Unlocked at Lv.39) + Enhanced Ailment (Unlocked at Lv.39) + Added Fire Damage (Unlocked at Lv.50)
Hero Trait: Fusion Form (Lv.16) + Abnormal Energy (Lv.32) + Frostfire Strength (Lv.48) + Fusion Body (Lv.66)
Talent: Goddess of Knowledge (Pulsing Guard + Beacon), Magister (Metamorphose + Torrents), Talent Nodes Priority: Spell Damage, Maximum Mana and Surge related Talent Nodes.
Divineshot Carino
Strategy: The initial Ice Shot has control (freeze) and AOE damage (cone-shaped explosion) abilities, with decent effectiveness of added damage. Combined with Thrill's effect to increase Attack Speed, he is a capable shooter and efficient map grinder.
- Thrill: 3 secondsof basic duration. Can be stacked 3 times initially. Use support skill Thrill to receive this buff. When combined with Core Talent Euphoria, Thrill can provide damage buff.
Skill Combo: Ice Shot (Owned by default) + Multiple Projectiles (Owned by default) + Thrill (Unlocked at Lv.7) + Added Cold Damage (Unlocked at Lv.7) + Mark (Unlocked at Lv.22) + Wind Projectiles (Unlocked at Lv.22)
Hero Trait: Ammo Expert (Lv.16) + Moving Reload (Lv.32) + Ammunition (Lv.48) + Landslide (Lv.66)
Talent: Goddess of Hunting (Arrow Hurricane + Three Birds with One Stone), Marksman (Wind Shot + Euphoria), Talent Nodes Priority: Projectile Damage, Projectile Speed and Thrill related Talent Nodes.
Spacetime Witness Youga
Strategy: Similar to Ice Shot, the initial Ice Lances has control (freezing) and AOE damage (Jump) abilities. It deals extra damage when hitting enemies on Frost Pool. An excellent map grinder when combined with Surge and Frost Pool skill.
- Surge: Originally an upgradable buff, Surge will be fixed at Lv.10 when Core Talent Compressed Path is selected, unless affected by other affixes.
- Freeze: There is a chance to Freeze when hitting the target with Cold Damage. When combined with Core Talents Thawing Strike and Lord of Darkness, Freezing will be converted to Slow, applying Resistance Reduction and Vulnerability debuffs on the enemy.
Skill Combo: Ice Lances (Owned by default) + Efficient Cast (Owned by default) + Freeze Chance (Unlocked at Lv.7) + Control Spell (Unlocked at Lv.22) + Wind Projectiles (Unlocked at Lv.22) + Cold Piercing (Unlocked at Lv.39)
Hero Trait: Spacetime Illusion (Lv.16) + Field Effect (Lv.32) + Spacetime Resonance (Lv.48) + Arcane Contact (Lv.66)
Talent: Goddess of Knowledge (Primal Force + Beacon), Arcanist (Thawing Strike + Lord of Darkness), Talent Nodes Priority: Spell Damage, Cold Damage and Slow related Talent Nodes.
The contents above are for reference purpose in early game only. If you don't like certain parts of the aforementioned builds, feel free to replace them with new ones and there may be some pleasantly surprising results! Skills can be obtained for free in Skill Shop. Hero Traits can be changed at any time, and Talents can be reset for free before Lv.70. Take advantage of this to experiment with your builds as you like!
