Don't let the generic name fool you! Epic Battle Fantasy 5 is actually a fantastic mobile RPG that has its own identity...and no gacha nonsense! It mixes together cute, Paper Mario-style visuals with simple, tap-based navigation, Pokémon- esque creature collecting, and a rather large world to explore. I can't emphasize enough how nice it is to find a great, old-school RPG for mobile devices that isn't full of monetization! Epic Battle Fantasy 5 has a couple of purchases you can make—to remove ads and to get some extra content—but I was happy to pay up in support of a developer who isn't trying to suck every last dollar out of my bank account.

The game is pretty fun and very enjoyable but I can't continue playing after getting about 65% through with the fascist part of the game because of just how unbalanced it is. I get that this is the point where the game is supposed to ramp up in difficulty but it's a lot all at once. Nearly every encounter is multi wave with enemies that have weaknesses and resistances that completely contradict eachother so you can pretty much never be prepared properly for enemies. And since Nataline is gone you have to depend on the diffeent swords matt has to do any real damage. Speaking of Nataline its kind of annoying how what you had equiped in her isnt de equiped after she's kidnapped so you just cant use anything she had on. The bubbler boss Is genuinely only possible with bombs unless you farm for a pretty long time. Not even gonna bother talking about the enemies inside the fort. Again I love the game but this part of the game was just too much too soon.
